brisbane Fishing Report 2025

We departed today on the Davis Construction annual private charter. This year there are six lucky individuals who were invited to go, with Jim and Gunnar being the new guys. We loaded up at the bait receivers with some excellent bait, and headed down south in beautiful, flat calm weather. Everyone is excited at the prospects that lie ahead. We dined on a great barbecued pork tenderloin for lunch and just enjoyed the company and the smooth ride.

Today went as planned. We fished yellowtail for a few hours in the afternoon to break up the travel time getting down below. We had to hunt a little but everybody on board got their share of tugging and pulling. We're traveling tonight toward the ridge. We should arrive in the afternoon if we don't stop prior to.

Nov. 12

Not too much to report today, but we got our lines in the water, and ended up with a few varieties of fish chilling in the refrigerated sea water. We ended up at sort of a one-stop-shop in that we caught the three species that we were targeting all on the anchor. That is not typical fishing, down this way. We usually find the fish one species at a time. Half the boat caught a wahoo today so that's not a bad start and we caught quite a few 15-30 pound yellowtails too with a handfull of call them 25-40 pound tuna as well. Weather continues to be nice, with a bit of wind that popped up later on in the day. It was great to finally use some of that tackle today, that we've spent so much time rigging over the past few days. Now we can get down to the serious business of (hopefully) catching some creatures from the deep blue sea to bring home, and share with our families at the dinner table.All is well aboard the Polaris Supreme, and it's first call for our evening meal consisting of pork chops, apple sauce, and assorted goodies. Hi folks. We departed today on an open party 8-day trip with plenty of familiar faces on-board, so it's more like a charter. We picked up a fine looking load of sardines and we'll see how they do on our southerly journey for the next couple of days. For now, everything is good. The seas were flat calm all day and the weather was hot but now, it's a little foggy out but absolutely no sea conditions. We'll take it. The boys just enjoyed a fat piece of prime rib and everyone is sacking out for the night -- fat and happy. Tomorrow morning, we'll knock out some seminars, get rigged up, and see if we can't stumble upon a school of some fat yellowfin and/or fat bluefin throughout our travels.

Anyhow, life is good for now. We're monitoring tropical storm Kristy and as of now, we're looking like she's going to miss us and we're going to have some nice weather in the next couple of days in our zones. We'll see. Wish us luck and we'll chat with you tomorrow.

At this moment we are fishing for rockcod, however we are keeping our eyes open for game fish. Any day now Yellowtail will show up down there. The water is improving by the day, as soon as we see Yellowtail you will be the first to know. As of know bring your heavy sinkers, 12 to 16 oz. of weight, 65 or 80 lb. spectra, 2 or 3 hooks above your sinker. Excellent rockcod fishing right now at 300' of water. Like I mentionede earlier we are keeping our eyes open for game fish as soon as we see them we will let you know.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in late last night. We had very good fishing again today at the Coronado Islands. Today we had 21 anglers catch 85 Yellowtail and 51 Bonito. These Yellowtail are the coastal models and are much bigger than the Yellowtail being caught offshore right now. There are some fish that are in the 10 pound class. Then there are lots of fish coming in between 12 and 20 pounds. So they are nice quality fish. We are catching the fish on fly-lined sardines, yoyo jigs and surface iron. It really depends upon where we are fishing. Please be prepared with a 25 pound bait stick with live bait hooks (1 or 1o). Also bring a 40 pound outfit with Salas 6x Jrs. And a long rod if you what to fish the surface iron.
