westernport bay Fishing Report 2025

The day after the first Coronado island yellowtail are caught is always a very exciting day. After hours of searching high and low for yesterday's yellowtail it became obvious that today was a different day. The conditions were basically the same as yesterday but unfortunately we never found a school. We have seen this behavior in the past and I would not be surprised if our yellowtail show themselves tomorrow. Limits of rockfish provided the entertainment today. We will try again tomorrow.

Had another great day of grinding away at Yellowtail and Wahoo. The Wahoo are still around, they are now on live bait better than the trolling jigs and casting lures. There was also a nice shot on quality Yellowtail in the dark, so you may be going to bed late or waking up early if you are on an upcoming trip! Working up tomorrow, Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-29-2018 Today is what I would call a book end day! We woke up in the dark to great fishing on yellowfin tuna and yellowtail. Midday scrounge around for virtually nothing. In the afternoon they started biting again and went into the dark! We should have just took naps from 10 in the morning until four in the afternoon! It was a great day of fishing. We had great weather all day and are looking forward to tomorrow. Wish us luck Team Supreme

We arrived at the Island around 1 pm. We did a lot of searching before we got the anchor down and began to fish. Immediately we began seeing fish boiling around and on the sonar. However bites were few and far between. We did land a couple larger models but it did not do justice to what was around. Hopefully they want to bite tomorrow. Here we have Jim starting us off with a nice Yellowfin Tuna.

Arrived at our fishing destination today at 9:30am. As soon as we put the anchor down we were going full speed on a very nice grade of yellowtail. The small ones were 16 lbs. and then went up to over 30 lbs. The weather again is beautiful.. We headed up the line and got to where we were going before dark to fish a couple hours for rock cod and then we headed west into the offshore mode. Scallops and fresh yellowtail for dinner. Fishing today was sporadic. It had it's moments, but overall we just scratched with a variety of Albacore, Bluefin, Yellowfin, Yellowtail and Dorado. It was a pretty even mix of everything. Our weather continues to be excellent. So we will try again tomorrow and hope for more of the same, but a little bit better.

It's time for dinner. Chicken Cordon Blu is on the menu for tonight.

So we will check in again tomorrow.
