southwest rocks Fishing Report 2025

14 yellowfin tuna and 5 bluefin tuna. Once again, unbelievable amount of tuna in our zone. Most of the fish are strung out on tiny chovies making them very difficult to hook. A dedicated flyliner with 25 lb has a chance at a yellowfin. A dedicated flatfall or sinker rig fisherman with 50 lb has a chance at a bluefin.

Hello everyone, Today we targeted Yellowtail along the Baja coast. The numbers were not what we wanted but we were able to tag some Yellows and good grade bottom fish while we looked around. Today was the furthest south we could have possibly fished on this 3 day, so tomorrow we will fish offshore closer to home. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Hello Everyone, The weather was pretty rough last night and is still pretty choppy today. It does not look like we will have time to fish today. Yesterday fishing was so good, we were able to enjoy the fruits of our labors with some freshly filleted yellowtail for today's lunch. 20- 30 lb fresh yellowtail for lunch, doesn't get much better than that! We will be in San Diego tomorrow bright and early tomorrow morning. Will report again then, Team Supreme

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE 09-27-2020 We had a good day scratching at small grade Yellows and Tuna with a few grouper thrown in. We are off to look for premium Yellowtail tomorrow. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Right now a boat could leave San Diego and choose any direction except east and see tuna. Unbelievable amount of fish, however bites are very hard to come by. 4 bluefin from 60-85 lbs 2 yellowfin tuna at 15 pounds

We departed today on Bob Vance's annual five day. After we picked up a cruddy load of bait we dined on a delicious pork tenderloin for lunch and headed for the albacore grounds. This is a great group of anglers. Many have been on this trip with Bob for years. We are really looking forward to some good fishing. Weather is still good. Wish us luck.

We fished this morning without much luck. The one that we did hook the shark ate. So this will be another chapter for Bob Vance in his charter diary. Everybody had a great time and we look forward to seeing them all back again next year for Bob's annual trip. We will be in to the dock at 5:30am. We depart on Garry Roberts 9-day tomorrow morning. Myself as well as the crew are anxious to get down to Alijos. The fishing reports have been really good and we are looking forward to having our own great reports.  We had another good day today.  Well, afternoon I should say.  Yesterday, we got here at 2:30 in the PM and the fish were biting right away.  I thought for sure if we were here earlier, it would be stellar.  Nope.  2:30 was just right.  We hung out here all day not seeing any yellers, then right at 2;30, they showed up and it was good fishing for the next few hours.  We set up a little differently today and it paid off.  The grade of fish improved.  It was 70% premiums.  That's right.  18-30+ pounders.  2nd fish hold down.  We're cooling down the center well now. 

 Due to the fantastic fishing we've experienced this trip thus far, we are in need of some bait.  We're headed out to what I think is our best chance at making some.  No ones been there as far as I know for quite some time.  It's been windy.  It looks like we have a good weather window so it shouldn't look like the Flemesh Cap.  We're also hoping to run into some bluefin tuna while out there.  We're not just going out there for bait.  We're looking for something to use it on.  Let's keep the ball rolling.
