Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-05-2016 Hello Supreme Fans. Our day started off Early in the gray light, but with much bigger fish around the boat. Some of the bluefin tuna we saw blowing out were well over 150 pounds! We had our fair share of hook ups and heart breaks throughout the day most of the time we had 3 to 4 fish going. Rob Gledhill had one on close to 3 hours only for it to gain it's freedom right next to the boat! Gary Jones was one of the lucky ones. After a long hard battle he lands one that taped out at 91 pounds! We have really gotten worked over the last two days on this big fish. It is really hard to hook them on anything heavier than 50 pound test, you fight them for long battles and then after a half an hour to two hours you lose it and have to start all over again. We are definitely getting our butts kicked. It's really some fun fishing, the catching could be a little bit better. Wish us luck as we plan to do battle again tomorrow with the mighty mean bluefin tuna. The Supreme Team!

Just what we had hoped for! We had a really fun day on some of the bigger grade yellowfin. We landed nine fish over 100 pounds. Charlie got one at 213 lbs. and Gunnar, one of our first timers got the biggest one for the day that weighed in at 230 lbs. He did it all by himself from start to finish. And by the way, he is only eleven years old. He also landed another one that was well over 100 lbs. Our weather is fantastic. Dinner was incredible. Pedro laid out another killer sashimi and sushi appetizer and followed up with a dinner of fresh yellowtail with a Chardonnay, lemon, shallot sauce. Richie said it was probably the best fish dish he has ever had. We are hoping for another fun day tomorrow. Wish us luck. Thanks for checking in.

Bottom of the ninth anchor job saved the day. Ended with 68 yellowtail 42 barracuda 12 calico bass. All techniques worked today, fish what you have confidence in.

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a final count for their 1.5 day charter, they had some great fishing today. We had limits of Yellowfin Tuna, a couple Skipjack and a couple Yellowtail. We have been seing a little bit of Bluefin above the border, but getting them to bite is another story. All in all it was a fun day on the water, the quality of the Yellowfin has been up into the mid 30 lb range. We are still seeing plenty of yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. Our counts for the past week have been anywhere from 3 to 48 yellowtail per trip. It seems like if you get around the right school at the right time they will bite. We have seen schools at just about every spot at the islands. Today we went out with 28 passengers and caught 12 yellows. The biggest fish today was a 36 pounder caught on a fly lined sardine. Most of our fish have been in the 20 pound class and have been taken on fly lined sardines on 25 lb. and yo-yo jigs on 40 lb. The weather has been absolutely perfect. We are running everyday. Hi friends. Different day for us here on the Supreme. After thumping and bumping our way up the line last night, we were pleasantly surprised to find decent weather when we put the lines in the water. Our weather just got progressively better and better throughout the day. Super good feelings about that, especially after yesterdays beating. Anyhow, the Bluefin tuna cooperated for us this morning and we produced on multiple drifts all the way until after lunch. The grade of fish was dandy; a lot of 25-40 pounders with a few bigger and few smaller in the mix, but for the most part, it was a nice quality of tuna that the gang threw aboard today and we deserved it.

Although we would've liked more to make up for yesterday, we're happy that the gang had some action and we're happy with the quality. We're also happy with Chef Schoolers Fillet Oscar that we haven't had in a few weeks. With that, we've put a bow on this 3-day adventure and are currently en route back to San Diego. Our ETA is looking like around 06:30 hours tomorrow. The boat turns around for Mr. Eric Roggers 5-day party cruise. Look for Captain Drew to man the helm and the keyboard. Take care, y'all.

Hi friends. Tough day on the Bluefin grounds for us. We got on a spot around breakfast time and boated a kill box full of those school-sized Bluefins but after that, we never found anything worthy of our time and effort. With that, we bailed from the area and made a move to lower latitudes. The rest of our day was spent hitting various kelp paddies for mostly "neck tie" Yellowtail but we also found ourselves in a couple of stops on Common Dolphin for some 18 lb. Yellowfin tunas that hit the trolling feathers. All in all, it wasn't quite what we had hoped for but with the great weather we had going for us we gave it our all and the gang kept in high spirits throughout our day.

With that, we're headed down to do some Yellowtail fishing tomorrow. We'll see what happens. We'd like to get outside and get on some of that Yellowfin tuna that is biting a little bit but timing wise hitting the yellow's first fits in better. We'll chat with you tomorrow and have a fine evening.
