Capt Ryan Bostain checked in with a report for the San Diego for their 3/4 day trip today down south, we ended the day with 103 Yellowtail for our efforts. Mixed sizes today with a couple in the 10 lb range and a couple around 28 lbs, most were in the 15 to 18 lbs. They were mostly on the surface action today, with a few on the yoyo irons. Come on down and bring a 40-50 lb setup for the yoyo and a 25-30 for flylining and a 8-10 ft jig stick for the surface irons. The Tady 45s, Salas 7Xs or Candy Bars are all working well for the surface irons. Come on down and get in on this Yellowtail action while it is hot.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning with an audio update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. We moved to a new area and found some fish. As of 9:30 AM we have 2 Bluefin Tuna, 6 Yellowtail and 1 Dorado. We have a very light load today of 13 anglers. So pretty good fishing this morning.

The Tribute is ONLINE at Seaforth Landing. We are a definite go right now for tonight's trip. We only have 9 anglers. The loads are light so get in on it while you can!

Today was one of those days that make you appreciate biting fish. We saw plenty of fish but, it was hard to get close to them or when we did get close getting a reaction was even harder. Tomorrow is a new day !

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in an early morning report on behalf of Jay Kinsley making his maiden voyage and they are off to a great start. They have over 50 mixed tuna by 8:30am on board and some hanging and was very busy and could not talk long. Our morning started off at 4:30. There was some good meter life on the first spot we looked at so we woke everyone up to try it and we had it figured out in the first 45 minutes. A few good grade yellows and a whole lot of smaller ones so we brought the lines in and continued down. An hour later we tried another spot for some more nice yellows but not enough so we continued down. The next spot a couple hours later was a disappointment. Not much yellowtail and not much wahoo. We got one wahoo almost to gaff before it spit the hook and swam away. So we continued down. The next spot we tried produced one beautiful wahoo and showed pretty decent sign of good grade yellowtails that didn't bite like you'd think. We caught some but it didn't keep us anchored up till sunset so we continued down. 1:30 hours later we were anchored up on our last spot of the evening and again it showed pretty good sign of yellows that bit pretty good for us up until dark. It was good enough to stay put and try it in the morning. We might of caught 1 million dorado today. I lost track at around one hundred and three but it might have been around 1 million. Unfortunately most of these dorado weren't much bigger then a neck tie and we let most go to fight another day. The weather was windy today. Wind and swell but for some reason it wasn't bad fishing weather. Maybe because our usual direction we worked was down but even when we would slide on a jig strike we never took any mean snaps. The wind came down after the sun went down so we're hoping it stays down.

After another slow day offshore. We have decided to make Monday and Tuesday an island trip. We will be targeting yellowtail, kelp bass, barracuda and we even heard of a bluefin sighting today. Summer island tackle consists of a 25 lb bait rod, a 40 lb yo-yo rod, your favorite jig stick and your favorite kelp bass rod. Passports are required. Reservations are light but both trips are a definite go.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the afternoon with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We have 80 Yellowtail (in the 15 to 20 pound class) at the Coronado Islands. They are biting on dropper loop, yo-yo jigs, and fly-lined baits.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-11-2016 Good evening folks, Polaris Supreme checking in. We started our day in the same area where we had phenomenal yellowtail fishing yesterday. The bait was there, the birds were there and the current was there, but for some reason the yellowtail were not. We did manage to pick away at a couple yellowtail, but we just couldn't get the ball rolling. After accepting the fact that the yellowtail pulled a no-show, we decided to make our way offshore in hopes of better things. And indeed better things we found! We spotted a big beautiful kelp patty that had a jumbo school of large hungry yellowtail beneath it. It was a day saver! These fish were biting the fly line and yo-yo jigs. We also saw a couple nice Dorado on the kelp but they did not like our offerings. We are now making way back up north to another area where we will be finishing off our trip by fishing for those larger size yellowtail once again. Also, sorry for the lack of pictures today.
