Hi friends. Absolutely gorgeous weather out here today; it couldn't be beat. It was flat calm, it was windless, it was sunny. We liked it. We're currently en route to the bait/Yellowtail grounds and our ride is motionless. Chef Schooler and Chef Shawn our downstairs kicking out Scallop/Shrimp Alfredo and strawberry milkshakes and root beer floats for dessert. We like that too. Anyhow, here is our day went.

The Mustache put us on one school in the mid-morning and we had a really nice go-around on some 25-40 pounders but as soon as they came, they vanished. No rhyme or reason why but they did. We had a few "filler stops" on smaller grade Bluefin and also some school-sized Yellowfin tuna as well but it wasn't enough to keep us from calling it a slow day. It wasn't for lack of effort and wasn't because of lack of fish, by the way. We saw multiple breezers of Bluefin today but they didn't react or if they did, they gave us the slip. Very frustrating to say the least. But, we managed to put a few on the boat before we began our descent to do some inshore activities.

So that is all. We'll be into the zone at 0400 hours and we'll be trying for some carnada. Wish us luck and we'll hit y'all up tomorrow. Happy Hump Day, y'all.

I have yet one more opportunity for someone to jump on with us on a great charter. This trip is a 2-day trip fishing Thurs. and Fri. June 19-20. This is a very light charter and only fishes with 12 or 15 people. If you are able to go, you might find yourself becoming a permanent part of a very special charter on a regular basis. Good morning everyone, Today started out slow. A slight wind and a racing current made it it difficult to fish in the early morning. However by around seven o clock a switch turned on and the yellows wanted to chew. The sea came alive with eager mossbacks. Eating everything but really keying in on the surface action. The fly line sardine and surface iron really were the super stars today. We were really able to pick off these yellowtail as they made their rounds crashing around the boat. We stayed busy all morning until lunch time when we had to pull it and head north. What a great half day of fishing! Really makes you appreciate days like today when it all comes together and everyone is able to catch fish. Will report again tomorrow, Team supreme

Hi Anglers,

Drew and the guys got in this morning off of Garth Kubeldis's Optima 1-1/2 day charter. They had a great catch for only 16 anglers fishing at 150 miles. The total was 39 bluefin, average weight being 29 lbs., 3 yellowfin, one being the jackpot fish at 35 lbs., and 11 yellowtail.

The POLARIS SUPREME is on line for an open party 2-day trip leaving Wednesday to target the bluefin again. At 10:00 am this morning one boat had just reached over 50 fish in the same area Drew was in and the rest of the fleet was heading that way. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in Mission Bay, CA.  We had 18 passengers today catch 12 Bluefin Tuna (60 to 80 pounds).   We landed 1/2 the fish we hooked today.  We also caught 3 Yellowtail.  We recommend the flat-fall jig with a two-speed reel loaded with spectra and a short 60 to 80 pound fluorocarbon leader.  You have also be prepared with a 25 to 35 pound live bat outfit for the kelps.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in late last night with an audio update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay.  We finished the day with good action.   We finished with 38 Bluefin Tuna up to 100 pounds.  They were biting the fly-lined sardines on 40 pound with fluorocarbon.

Today we had a good morning hit on the better grade tuna. Once the sun came up the tuna were still there and biting, but the skip jack moved in as well. Eventually it settled into a pick on the great grade tuna through the skip jack. We also had some Grouper and large Yellowtail mixed in. We will be in search of Wahoo tomorrow.

 So we fished today on our open party 1.5 day trip.  What a morning.  We got on a school early.  In the dark.  I saw them on the sonar, then stopped, then looked out the window and there they were, swimming around under the lights.  So I dropped a bait in the water and a minute later I had a tuna on board.  So I woke up the crew and the passengers and we commenced fishing.  Before the sun came up we were finished.  I mean we had our daily limit of yellowfin so we passed the school off to another boat and moved on.  The reason we were able to get it done so quickly this morning was because the fish were small.  Unfortunately that's what the plan was all along.  The good grade tuna schools are missing here in 3 day range at the moment.  we've seen this before.  It's no surprise during a tuna season.  I don't believe it's over.  Just temporarily down.

 So we wanted to get our tuna out of the way early and then concentrate on finding dorado kelps, but we never found too much for dorado kelps.  The wind blew too.  It was perfect weather this morning, but by lunch it was blowing a good 25 knots.  Not comfortable.  Thing went back down though.  It didn't stay windy.  It's nice now.

 We get in tomorrow and we're going to take a couple of days off so we'll see you when we see you.  And by that I mean write and read.
