lanier Fishing Report 2025

Ryan Bostian called in to give this report for the San Diego. "Today was our 1st Day at the Coronado Islands, after spending a month offsore. Today we went down to the Islands with 24 anglers and we're coming back to the dock with 32 Yellowtail. The Yellowtail we caught ran from 12 to 25 lbs. There are enough big ones in the mix to keep it interesting for sure. We caught fish on all 3 techniques today; flyline-sardine, surface iron and yo-yo lures. So if you are going fishing with us I'd bring three rods for the local Yellowtail fishing. Fly line sardine with a 25 or 30 lb. was probably the best way to get a bite. However, we did have plenty of fish on the lures.

"Com on down and see us, we leave the dock everyday at 5:30 AM. We'll be fishing these Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands as long as the fish are here. We saw some big beautiful schools today. Hopefully they stick around. We'll check back in again tomorrow.

Howdy partners. Our morning whack yielded us 24 Bluefin, with most being in the 30-plus pound class, so that was just dandy. However, the traffic was too much for us to handle and with a declining bite, Drew made like the guy should have done for Lady Antebellum, and took us downtown. The move paid off, somewhat. We hit a few kelps for some action on some Yellowtails and a crazy Mahi-Mahi, but the weather made it tough to go any direction but downswell. 20 knots of breeze and a heavy, rolling swell just would not allow us to safely go where we would've liked to once we found the right water structure. Frustrating. Anyhow, we did manage to scratch up a couple of Bluefin late in the day but before we could get a beat on 'em, darkness fell and we had to turn downswell again so that everyones dinner plates stayed on their table. Oh well, maybe when the weather subsides, this area will be productive, but today, we can't quite justify saying that it was.

So that's it. We gave it our all today and the gang hung tough even with the lousy weather. After dinner, we're going to have to kick her up to get ourselves in position at the local tuna area tomorrow. We'll be finishing up our trip closer to home so we'll have all day to make the most of our final day. Take care and wish us luck.

Good morning everyone, Today we fished our final day of our Bogart 2 day trip. It was a day of grinding it out in the Bluefin Tuna grounds. There was a lot of tuna around it was just very finicky and we had trouble getting it to bite. We were able to land one tuna for the entire day. What saved our bacon was the yellowtail fishing. We fished yellows the second half of the day for great quality yellows! Biggest being 48lbs! We are in tomorrow early at 5 am, and out for seven! Wish us luck, Team supreme

Our first stop of the day was a bit humbling as we went 10 out of probably 50+ on the 50-110 pound Bluefin (anything under 40 on these fish was too lite).

We ended the trip with 14 Bluefin and 41 Yellowfin (18-60 pounds) in great weather for our 27 Angler’s, we go again tonight.

Fishing yesterday was absolutely fantastic. The grade of albacore that we were catching was beautiful with half being 30-40 lbs. and the other half averaging 22 lbs. Weather yesterday and today is excellent. This morning we are already into albacore, blue fin and yellow fin. Looks like a another great day on the water. It started out great and got better and better. The whole boat went bendo kelp after kelp and the kelps weren't to far between. I'd say we could have done better on the hoo. We lost alot more than we landed. The anglers were pulling the tricks out of their sleeves seeing what cool ways they could get bites. Hookless jigs, taquitos etc. We couldn't ask for better weather. It is unbeatable. We're headed up north to finish the trip with some yellowtail fishing.
