Nice mixed bag of yellowtail ,barracuda and kelp bass for our 27 anglers today.

Hi friends. Same type of scenario today just as it was yesterday; we saw tuna everywhere but could only scratch up some fish on the troll throughout the day and our weather was hot, humid, and sunny. Hard to get a fish to eat a bait with a hook in it today and it was also hard to not sweat off all of our sunscreen on our faces. Like I said, it was a difficult day as we had to troll up most of our catch with the exception of a few handfuls of quality yellowtail on the yo-yo jigs and dropper loops on one of our many anchor jobs. Maybe these fish will get with the program and bite but we won't be around to see it as we have to start making our way up the line. We'll do a little fishing on the way up tomorrow and we'll probably give it a full day on the local tuna grounds on Friday. Our weather is just dandy and we're enjoying our traveling at the moment. We'll report back to you tomorrow.

Before I go, a couple of things I'd like to address. First, Mark finally had himself some good ole' fashioned hardhat time today for being a humongous dork while winding in a yo-yo iron. Second, we'd like to issue a congrats to our good buddy and former Polaris Supreme family member Derek Waldman. Derek ran his first trip as master of the Red Rooster III and had himself a very solid first trip. For those of you who don't remember, Derek is a solid dude and has one of the biggest hearts a person could have and we're thrilled for him. Good job, Derek. Here's to many more.

We departed today on the Dan Heil Memorial charter with his son Ron Heil as charter head. It's pretty cool to see some of the old faces. Dan's charter has been with me for over 25 years. We were in a panic rush to get out and get to the local fishing grounds before dark. We got about three good hours of fishing and snagged a handful of yellowfin, a bluefin and a beautiful opah. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 10-01 to 2-2019 Yesterday we finished for yellowtail up the coast until mid day in absolutely beautiful weather with not much luck on the fishing and of it. Water temperature has dropped about 5° from what it was. Today we're just traveling up the line to San Diego again in beautiful weather which we paid for on our four days of fishing down south. Will be arriving tomorrow into San Diego and Alec will be heading out on a seven-day trip. Hopefully we will have paid enough this trip for good weather all next trip for him! Say what????? Limits of Yellowfin (25-45 pounds) the last day of November and after our last storm. Yup! Great sign of 100-200 pound plus Bluefin too, but the couple bites we had got away quickly. We have a few more trips this week before we go to the boat yard.

Capt Mike Pritchard on the Tribute just called in from their 1.5 day trip sponsored by Okuma/Savage Gear, fishing was great. Lingcod was not quite as good as before, we ended up with 56 for the trip and limits of rockfish along with some sheephead and whitefish. The weather was the nicest he has seen and made it hard to get some good drifts in. If they were easy, they would not be as special. After yesterday’s great fishing, Mother Nature decided to put us back in our place today. 31 anglers. 1 bluefin tuna 1 yellowtail. Good evening to all readers. We're fishing the second annual Bogart Construction short range trip. We departed this evening around four, got some bait and are currently serving our beautiful cuts of the prime rib as I write this. We'll fish all day tomorrow and head it back for home on yet another turn around. It sounds like it was a down day today in the offshore grounds with not so good of weather so we're glad we were at the dock today. Tomorrows forecast shows the wind backing off and with that hopefully the fish float. We'll see.
