With great anticipation of a light load aboard the Apollo, all 14 of us anglers showed up at the dock early, swapping stories about past trips. We started boarding about 9:30pm and were greeted by Capt JJ Gerritsen and the rest of his crew, we signed in and had a seat for our safety briefing. Capt JJ then asked if we wanted to head offshore for Albacore which had dramatically slowed down the last couple days or head south along the coast for a shot at Dorado and Yellowfin and Yellowtail patty hopping. Without much hesitation we decided to head south and patty hop. We got the feathers in at gray light and started the troll, within 15 minutes the yell of "Hook-up" sang out, unfortunately the mystery fish got away and we were under way again. Five minutes later we heard that yell again, the mystery fish won round two and will live another day. Third time's a charm didn't hold true for us, our third hook-up is still out there in the deep blue. At that point the first troll rotation was fired (which included me) and the second shift took over. Within 10 minutes they had our first fish on the deck, a skipjack, from that point on while looking for patties we boated about 19 skipjack. We found our first patty around 10am and moved in with hopes of a wide open bite, but to our dismay there was nobody home. That held true for the next 8 patties we found, then finally around noon with a mouth full of burger, we heard the call to get ready. Never fails every time your food is done, it's time to drop a line. As soon as our sardines hit the water the patty expolded, we ended up with 1 Dorado and 2 Yellowtail. We only found two two more patties holding fish and ended up with 1 more Dorado and 4 yellowtail. It was now time to head back to port and we again set out the troll lines and managed to pick up 7 Yellowfin Tuna on the way back in. Here is a suggested tackle list for our 5:30 - 5:00 Coronado island trips for February and March. (1) a yo-yo outfit, this outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 40 lb. monofilament. Any 6 - 8 ft. rod rated for 40 lb. will work good. (2) Deep water cod rod. This outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 65 or 80 lb. spectra. Any 6-8 ft. rod capable of handling a 16 oz. sinker will work good. (3) a 25 or 30 lb. live bait outfit. This outfit should be a 20 size reel spooled with 25 or 30 lb. monofilament. A 7-8 ft. Rod rated for 25-30 lb. will be perfect. TERMINAL TACKLE. An assortment of torpedo sinkers from 6-16 ounces. A dozen rockcod hooks. We really like Mustad EZ baiters in the 10/0 size. A pack of size 2/0 live bait hooks. We really like Mustad 94150 A couple of heavy lures. Salas 6x jr and Salas 6x in blue/white and scrambled egg are perfect. Most of our trips we have been fishing deep water in the morning and shallow water in the afternoon. As soon as we see yellowtail the rock fishing will take a back seat.

Hello everyone, Today was spent traveling up. A great ride to end a great trip filled with a variety of fish. We would like to thank Billy Stephens for putting together such a great charter! Hello everyone, Today we were traveling up the line and looking for kelps. We found one kelp that was loaded with Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado. It was as good as it gets, like an aquarium in the water. We fished until everyone was content with the number of fish they tagged. Fishing was so good they were eating the trolling lures bring dipped in the water. Very fun to say the least. We may have some time to fish tomorrow for a little bit depending on our speed. Will Report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this morning with SDFR with an update from "the San Diego" out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we are back fishing at the Coronado Islands. We have 10 nice grade Yellowtail on the boat so far as of 10:55 AM. The fish are in the 15 to 23 pound size. The San Diego runs full day trips departing at 5:30 every morning!

Captain Tucker McCombs called in this afternoon with a wrap-up from the Endeavor out of Hook's Landing in Oxnard, CA. We had limits of Seabass today in the 15 to 25 pound class. The fish were biting pretty good today. We are booked up throughout the weekend but we have plenty of room next week.

The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

30 yellowtail. Yellowtail or bust was the name of the game. Enough fish around to get a big hit just waiting on the stars to align. All techniques are producing, we recommend fishing your strength.

07-13-2013 Polaris Supreme Trip Update.

Wow What a great trip Drew and the boys had with Joe and Mal's gang. Good going guys! That was one of the most impresive catches of 40 to 50 pound Bluefin I have seen in a while. Oh ya thanks a lot for putting the pressure on us to produce more of the same for Billy Stephens Group. Just kidding we are looking forward to the challenge. The reports from the four boats in our group that fished the morning sounded just like the schoole Drew and the gang left bitting. It was full speed all morning. I don't think any of us are going to sleep well tonight. May be if we count Bluefin coming over the rail thet will help, or not. Going down for prime rib. sea ya tomorrow.
