yankeetown Fishing Report 2024

Good evening everyone, Today we scouted some new area for yellowtail. With some good looking water on the satellite image we searched near and far. Spot after spot we tried long and hard, and just couldn't seem to find the condition we were looking for. Eventually we ended the day with a very low count. We still have our sights set on yellowtail for tomorrow. So we will be trying a new area tomorrow morning! Wish us luck, Team supreme

Captain Mike Pritchard called in to report 17 Yellowtail from our first kelp. We also had 2 Bluefin Tuna up to 65 pounds. We are seeing spots of Bluefin today and some other boats have scores up to 30 fish. The weather is fantastic. Stay tuned ...

Good evening everyone, Today we had Yellowfin tuna in our cross hairs. The morning started off slow and picked up as the day went on. With the increasing yellowfin action came more skip jack action as well. Eventually we were weeding through skip jack and small tuna to get to the nicer 12-25 lb tunas that were around. Mixed in with the tuna life we had a few Dorado and Yellowtail as well. The weather forecast looks good for tomorrow. We are excited to see whats in store for us! Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Good eveing friends. Checking in from the bridge in between dinner calls. We started the day shut down on on a few fish marks to see if we could get something to build up and hooked a couple of small grade yellowfin, but it just wasn't the right kind so it was time to pack up and go looking. Shortly after a couple released tuna, we got mobile we swung by a few tuna pens and they didn't really produce. A lot of small yellowfin and aquarium size yellowtail with a couple nicer 25 lb tuna to put a tag on. Too bad a couple hundred more of his buddies weren't tagging a long with him. Tommy got up with me this morning at about 0245 and got busy downloading some awesome water charts that way we could map out our playground for the day. Not much luck at the pens, so off to kelping we went before we started working some warm water edges. We just couldn't seem to find the big boomer that was loaded or catch that school that was out there roaming around. The ocean is a pretty big place when you're out there by yourself. You have your great days along with the slow ones and today it was just one of the slow ones. The guys really hung in there and fished hard though. Charter Master Joe Gigliotti got busy like the Italian he is and cranked out about a dozen handmade pizzas for lunch that were second to none! Every year that's one thing we really look forward to on his trip is the pizza's. He brings all of the ingredients with him and certainly rivals any pizza place that I've been to!

I do have to add, for all of you Mark "The Crow" Clark fans, we actually got him to not say one word all the way through dinner last night. He actually had to use a note pad to communicate! Quite the sight I must say, but today it was back to business as usual...Caw Caw Caw. Keeping the passengers laughing and giving his illegitiment father Kub and Uncle Joe Beck and hard time as always. So tommorrow we're gonna wrap up the trip in the bluefin grounds and I have a feeling it's gonna be game on. Time to get nasty and end with a bang. Drew has to sport the lucky 7-11 hat, Gunny will be in all blue as he always is when we get 'em and Mark, he'll still be talking. Time to shut out the lights and enjoy first watch. Things definitely slowed down today! You can tell it's on the downswing. If a guy works at it though he could put together a day if you stay with it! Took off from the island heading to Ensenada early and our weather is definitely snotty to say the least! Should be in late tomorrow afternoon Friday, and on time into San Diego on Saturday morning. Looking forward to having Vernon and the boys out on their annual five-day charter to Guadalupe Island! Don't have much more to say just hanging on trying to stay in my chair and not fly out of the wheelhouse.

Well the fishing is not red hot but the grade is for sure bigger. We had many Yellowfin Tuna today that are over 100 lbs. Incredible grade. There is lots of life here and we have another day to see if they really want to bite. Wish us luck! Here we have Mike Grella with a well earned Guadalpe Tuna. Also we have Richard with his big tuna well over 100lbs caught on a Penn senator reel! Holy cow Richard you sure do like a challenge! Good job though!

Hey everyone it's time again to start seriously thinking about when you will be able to get on the boat for a tuna trip. Well the albies are being caught right now in good weather and some bft are showing up too. We have 2 openings on a two day charter next week. We depart on Wednesday night and return on Friday night.
