Today was a slow day out here for us. We never did find a school. We did a little bit of scratching in the morning, the afternoon was non existent and then we scratched some for about an hour into dark. Only a couple schools seen out here today. It was a slow day for most. We're going to stick it out here for the morning and if we don't see anything in the first couple of hours we're going to work up towards home and look along the way. We're still a long way from home. There's plenty of fishy ground above here too. The weather was OK today. I wouldn't sign up for it. A little breezy and choppy but plenty fishable. Looks like we can expect it better tomorrow and a very nice ride up. Hope they're right.

A four-day trip with 24 anglers aboard Polaris Supreme and skippered by owner Tom Rothery returned to Fisherman's Landing July 9. Richard Bradshaw of Poulsbo, WA won first place for a 43-pound bluefin. He got that fish with a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad hook, 30-pound Maxima line on a Sealine 50 reel and one of the boat's rods. Jules Appelman of Albeuquerque was second for a 39.4-pound albacore, and Doug Dalme of Napa won third place for a 38.9-pound albacore tuna.

We have a one day trip, fishing next Sunday, Aug 5, that has a few openings. This is mostly a kids/beginners group, ideal for experienced anglers to bring their children or kids on a boat in a friendly and limited load environment. However, all anglers are welcome. 18 passengers, $250 per person plus food, tips, permit.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in from the San Diego tonight with an update. We had 16 LIMITS of Yellowtail (80). Most of the fish were caught on YoYo Jig but we did catch fish on the surface iron and using bait. The San Diego will be fishing the Coronado Islands for Yellowtail daily. Captain Mike Pritchard called this afternoon and called in to report 45 Yellowfin Tuna in the 12 to 18 pound class. We did hook up a few larger Bluefin Tuna but lost them all. We are now in the zone and look forward to putting together a nice catch. We will be fishing this area all day tomorrow as we are on a 2.5 day trip. Stay tuned ...
