western ny Fishing Report 2024

We arrived at the Island around 1 pm. We did a lot of searching before we got the anchor down and began to fish. Immediately we began seeing fish boiling around and on the sonar. However bites were few and far between. We did land a couple larger models but it did not do justice to what was around. Hopefully they want to bite tomorrow. Here we have Jim starting us off with a nice Yellowfin Tuna.

Well so much for the great weather staying with us.

Today was rough and choppy. However, the wahoo fishing made up for it.

Fishing on the wahoo was fantastic. The tuna on the other hand were nonexistent. But man did we have a fun day. Dinner of course was fresh wahoo encrusted in macadamia nuts with a lemon butter sauce. Very moist and juicy. Saffron rice and mixed fresh veggies also adorned the plate. Great day, great fishing.

125 yellowfin for our 45 passengers. We had 2 drifts today both of which took a finesse presentation to get a bite. Size 2 or even size 4 hooks on 20lb flouro carbon is still the recommended set up when the tuna are picky. And special thanks to Captain Todd and crew of the @voyagersportfishing for letting us double team a very nice school with them.

Long time friend, crewmen, passenger, and father Dave Dunham passed away earlier this year. His daughter Julia picked off a beautiful Yellowfin Tuna to start off the morning Hope you are proudly looking down smiling today Dave.

Hey everyone, 

Today we fished offshore looking for Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna. Action was few and far in between. We got lucky and stumbled on a small kelp patty that was loaded with Dorados and Yellowfin Tuna. We fished it for a couple hours, slowly the the rest hot Dorado bite transitioned into cleaner tuna fishing towards the end. Excellent day of action, fantastic day to end the trip on.

We are in tomorrow and heading back out for 8 days.

Incredible sunsets are just another day on the office. Not much traffic on the commute either. 

We are re-opening the last spot on a upcoming 5.5 cedros-offshore trip. Targeting bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, and calico bass!! Only 18 passenger limited load! Hi friends. We landed 40 Bluefin most in the 35-55 lb. class Through the morning till lunch time in one long drift. late in the day we sat on another school and managed to land a few before dinner was served. As of now, we're sitting on the "sack" and we're metering fish all the time. We'll see what happens in the morning when we wake up. Hopefully, we can pick away at 'em on the bag and never have to move. We'll see what happens. Weather was ok and looks even better for the next few days.

We're happy with our day as some of the boats down here didn't even break double digits. So, we'll take it and run with it. Chappy and the boys are doing just fine and we'll be making a decision tomorrow whether or not to stay put for Bluefin or make the run down to the Yellowtail grounds. Stay tuned. Take care.
