wdor Fishing Report 2025

We had excellent fishing on the smaller grade yellowtail. We only kept 49 of the bigger ones and the rest were released. We looked for wahoo but they weren't around. But we weren't done. We got into a fantastic bite with marlin. We released them all but it sure was fun. We had carne asada for lunch and and a good old fashion roasted turkey with all the trimmings for dinner. The weather is kinda choppy but we are going south and our ride is good. When all was said and done we had a fun day of fishing but didn't keep much.

These yellowtail are keeping us on our toes ! After two slow mornings in a row, we decided to start our trip out fishing sandbass. While we were catching bass for our mostly beginner group we got the word that the yellowtail were biting a little bit. After running the 12 miles to get in position we managed to land 15 yellows. These fish are 15-25 lbs. and extremely mean.

Please bring a 30 lb. rod to fly line sardines if you are coming out with us. Tomorrow we have a private charter but will be back to our open party run on Sunday. I will check back tomorrow.

The Sat phone in down on the Polaris Supreme, but through the old fashion way I have a report that they are doing well. Nice quality fish with three at or over 200 lbs. and another nine between 100-150 lbs.

Weather has been a little windy and rolly, but has greatly improved by this morning. We'll keep you updated as best as possible as I get the reports.

The Sat phone in down on the Polaris Supreme, but through the old fashion way I have a report that they are doing well. Nice quality fish with three at or over 200 lbs. and another nine between 100-150 lbs.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-16-2016 Hello Everyone,Today we boarded our lets talk hook up 4 day trip with Charter Master Dave Dolan leading the group. As we left the bait barge and cleared the point we wasted no time and started to fish. We ended up landing a couple tuna and a nice yellowtail. A nice way to start the trip with a few fish on the board. We are pointed south, in choppy weather in search of bigger and better things tomorrow.Wish us luck,Team Supreme

We got into the albacore grounds late in the morning. Most of the guys there already had a mix of around 30 albacore and yellowfin. We struggled and just couldn't find the right school until about 4:00 in the afternoon. Then it was wide open albacore fishing until 6:30. As we sat down to a superb dinner of Veal chops with Port and Mushroom sauce we reflected on what had started as a brutally tough day had turned into a simply great day! We will definitely stay here and try this again tomorrow. Thanks, Tommy

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-15-2016 Today was pretty much just a travel day we rolled up the line in Socko fog this morning and spent the afternoon catching a little bit of table fare in the form of reds and lingcod. Our weather has been great until this afternoon and just in time for dinner we have bumpy jerky weather! Tomorrow morning we will be into the dock unloading a nice catch of yellowtail and some fine halibut! In completing another 5 day Heil charter. We would like to thank Ron for carrying on the tradition his dad started some 35+ years ago. And also thank all of you anglers for joining us and hanging in there on what was a long run to get into some good fishing! Today we will be taking out the let's talk hookup four-day charter! We unfortunately won't be able to make the long run we did this trip. We're going to have to get creative locally! Also on another side note cub you keep asking me about Wahoo fishing and no don't bring your gear for Wahoo water is getting cold everywhere. You need to go on a 7 to 10 day trip and of in the fall. 54 passengers 6 yellowtail 80 calico bass 56 barracuda. Great summertime action taking place at the Coronado islands right now. Yellowtail are always the target species this time of year. However, almost every spot that we try to catch yellowtail at also has calico bass and barracuda. It would be a good idea to bring a 15 lb. bass rod along with your yellowtail gear.
