We didn't connect on the bluefin tuna today. The fish was down or gone but it sure wasn't available for us or anyone else in the area to catch so that's it. We're done with this years Davis ultra limited load 15 day trip and we're headed for the barn. We'll have a big load of cow tuna to unload tomorrow and after an oil change, fuel fill and some grocery's we'll be heading back out on Joey G's Accurate sponsored 8 day trip.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-26-2019 Good afternoon everyone I hope you guys had a great day like we did! Our weather was absolutely slick flat calm all day. I am afraid we're going to have to pay for this later on though. The usual rigging eating sleeping went on throughout the whole day here. Aug. 22

We kicked the you know what out of the yellowfin today. We engaged in battle and we won. We started our drift at 6:30 this morning and drove away from them biting at lunch. The fish were from 22-35 pounds and were snapping. I don't think I've seen that good of fishing on that good of a grade since the albacore days. Hopefully this lasts for some time to come. The weather was great today but the further north we go now the more choppy it's getting. Just in time for dinner.

We've just been traveling up since our only needed stop this morning setting us up for our last day in the bluefin grounds. It sounded slow up there today but maybe they're just waiting for captain Drew to get up there. Rent rod Ryan donated a 40 pound bluefin yesterday to the galley and we were planning on eating it for dinner tonight but in the middle of the mayhem today we lost it buried under the yellowfin so he donated a few yellowfin so we're having seared Ahi instead. Mmmmm.

Hello everyone, Today we spent another day targeting quality Wahoo and school sized tuna. We did great, picking at the Wahoo the majority coming on live bait. The bombs and jigs seem somewhat dormant at the moment, but we're not complaining because fish are coming aboard! At times there is an incredible amount of life out here. From the Wahoo, Skipjack, Yellowfin, Triggerfish, and more. The volume of life makes it difficult to hook the targeted Wahoo and bigger Tuna. So there is quite a bit of weeding out of the small yellowfin and other species in order to get what we came here for. Aside from Tuna and Wahoo we had an unexpected jag of Dorado swim through today. We landed a handful of the larger models to add to the fall variety pack here aboard Polaris Supreme. We are heading up tonight in hopes of a Yellowtail topper tomorrow morning. Wish us luck! Our private charter had to display some good old fashioned patience today. In a typical 3/4 day trip we can expect to make about 3-5 moves thru ought the day looking for fish. Today however, we did not find what we were looking for until our 9th stop of the day. The rapidly changing conditions coupled with the short windows of biting fish have been driving yours truly crazy the past couple of days. Today's photo will show you why we have been putting ourselves thru such mental anguish. Today's final count for our 31 passengers is 11 yellowtail 20 calico bass 16 barracuda 7 rockfish. Our yellowtail today weighed 20-35 pounds and were biting the fly lined sardines the best.

Aug. 22

A slow day on the Polaris Supreme today. My honey hole wasn't so much a honey hole. We had a couple stops the first half a day for some nice bluefin, yellows and dorado before taking off to what I hope tomorrow is the promise land. An example of how big the ocean is, one hour after leaving the area a code boat found a dandy school and gave me the position. Upon further investigation I noticed it was 1 mile from my earlier track line. It didn't bite for him. Now I always want my fellow boats to do well out here but you know deep down inside I was a little relieved to here that.

The weather out here is still fabulous and tomorrow is going to be a day full of bent rods, hooting and hollering and a boat full of tired people. I can feel it.

18 yellowfin tuna 13 skipjack. Unfortunately all of the fish we found were in the vicinity of bait. Tuna that have not eaten for a few hours are much easier to catch than tuna that are gorging themselves on anchovies.
