tw Fishing Report 2025

Today we tried our hand at Wahoo fishing once again. It was not the red hot bite like yesterday but it was still good numbers and unmatched quality of fish. Many 40-60 lb fish. We have to start heading up now. We may have some time to fish Yellowtail tomorrow on our way up. Here we have some victorious anglers after another great hit on Wahoo! Also Andrew with an absolute monster!

Hello everyone We just wrapped up another successful Simpatico five day charter put on by Vernon Burke. A great group of anglers who know how to fish hard and have fun on their five days of fishing vacation! It was a great trip this five day, we committed to big fish as opposed to big numbers. Some nice bluefin in the 60-90 lb class, the fish that were caught were the biggest these gentlemen have ever caught in their lives. The triumphs and defeats were spread pretty evenly but everyone had their chance at several quality Blufin of a lifetime! Jackpot! Wow what a great day. We had very, very good fishing on nice grade tuna. With the light load we have on this trip the anglers had lots of action. Our scores are as follows: Lon 274 lb., Greg 144, 110, and 152 pounders, Matt a 136 lb., John a 200 pounder, Mike 90, 125, and a 70 pounder, Tim 195 lbs., Chris 70 lbs., and Bill 70, 160, and a 304 pounder! Our weather is good. Lunch was a great seafood pasta and for dinner we went down home with some bar-b-que ribs, beans and corn on the cob. We were all so excited to have this nice big hit on the big fish.

Another travel day to get to the tuna grounds. Good weather and good food. Fresh tuna steaks with oriental fresh vegetables for lunch and a tasty New York steak for dinner. We are ready to get our lines wet. Wish us luck. By the way, those of you up around Sacramento, go to the boat show and look for Dave Dunham in the Polaris Supreme booth. We departed nice and early on Paul Hess's annual 5-day charter. Every year Paul puts together a great group of guys. Most are always repeat customers, but I saw one or two new faces this year.

Everyone is anxious to get out there and get their lines wet. The prospects look good for albacore, yellowtail and yellow fin. Our weather is good for the start and lets hope it stays nice. Thanks for checking in!

Captain Mike Pritchard called in with a wrap up from today's trip. We ended up with a great Yellowtail Kelp. We had 195 fish for our 28 people on this Okuma Sponsored trip. We have an extended 1.5 day trip departing on Friday night. Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

Ryan Bostian called in to give this report on the fishing at Coronado Islands, "In the last 3 days the temperatures have really jumped up on us. We are looking at 64 - 65, even 65.5 in some areas. We have been catching and seeing Yellowtail for the last month and one-half down here now. We started off in La Jolla, now we are down to the Coronado Islands. We have been averaging anywhere from 3 to 48 Yellowtail per trip. We had a nice day last Thursday, we had 48 of them. There are the same amount of fish around, we see some very nice schools. Some days they bite, some days they do not. It has not been easy to catch one but if you do catch one they are very nice sized fish. Most of them are every bit of 20 lbs., we did have a stand out yesterday which was 36 lbs. Very nice Coronado Island Yellowtail fishing.

As far as tackle goes if you came down with a 25 lb. rod and a fly line, a sardine, a little piece of fluorocarbon on the end of your mono and some 2/0 bait hooks you'd be all set to fly line. For those folks that like to fish artificial lures we have takes fish on both the Yo-Yo lures as well as the surface lures. Plenty of targets to throw at for you surface pluggers, if you'd like to come on down please join us aboard the San Diego. We do run every single day, we depart the landing at 5:30 AM, we'll be fishing the Coronado Islands for Yellowtail until something better pops up. Where ever the fish go we will go and right now they are at the Coronado Islands we are having a lot of fun with it. Hope to see you guys on the water."
