Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-22-2016 Good evening. Today was spent offshore all day. It didn't take log to start seeing sign right after day break. Everything certainly looked promising. Many many spots of both bluefin and yellowfin tuna just about everywhere we looked. These things just seemed to have a case of lock jaw. We threw everything except the kitchen sink at them, but just couldn't them to bite let alone stick with the boat. We have high hopes for a great closing day tomorrow. The fish is around, just a matter of finding the right one to shut down on. We'll check back in tomorrow for our final trip report. Tight lines, Team Supreme

The Annual SFR charter aboard the Apollo with Captain J.J Gerritsen and crew was a big success !! The Apollo is running out of Sea Landing on beautiful Santa Barbara Harbor, the closest harbor to the outer Channel Islands. Great weather meant an ideal cruise over to San Miguel Island for some of the finest shallow water rockfishing you'll find anywhere. 300 feet down you say, maybe 200, how about 100 feet ? No way. The offshore terrain around San Miguel is so rugged and marked with underwater pinnacles, we spent most of the day fishing in 25 to 90 feet of water. Lighter rigs, jigs, leadheads and swimbaits were the order of the day, and the San Miguel rockfish were in a hungry mood. We started catching fish before daybreak and spent the rest on the trip hauling up huge reds, chuckles and lings, all sporting some of the most vibrant colors I've seen on any fish in a long time. Awesome day!! We limited out on huge rockfish, slammed about 50-60 grumpy whitefish, 5-6 huge goats and 16 or so pre-historic looking lings before calling it a trip. Epic day !!!! The jackpot was a nail biter as Shawn Suhr's huge lingcod and Art Moralez's giant goat battled to a near dead heat. Captain J.J needed to come down and settle the score, with the final vote went going to Shawn's 12-13 pound ling. Great job Shawn. Captain J.J and his crew did an awesome job as always and the Apollo is looking as spotless as ever. The Apollo will be in Santa Barbara till around mid May before moving down to Fisherman's Landing in San Diego. Captain Andrew Viola checked I with a wrap-up from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing.  Our first trip was a success..  We had a mix of Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna.  Including action on 50 pound Bluefin Tuna. We did have a few bigger models too.

We are happy to be back at it and we look forward to fishing with you this Summer.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE 09-26-2020 We spent the day looking for Tuna and Wahoo without much luck. We did however get some great wide open Dorado fishing. As usual we only kept a small portion of them. The weather is a little bumpy but OK. Going to try a little nite fishing. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-05-2016 Hello Supreme Fans. Our day started off Early in the gray light, but with much bigger fish around the boat. Some of the bluefin tuna we saw blowing out were well over 150 pounds! We had our fair share of hook ups and heart breaks throughout the day most of the time we had 3 to 4 fish going. Rob Gledhill had one on close to 3 hours only for it to gain it's freedom right next to the boat! Gary Jones was one of the lucky ones. After a long hard battle he lands one that taped out at 91 pounds! We have really gotten worked over the last two days on this big fish. It is really hard to hook them on anything heavier than 50 pound test, you fight them for long battles and then after a half an hour to two hours you lose it and have to start all over again. We are definitely getting our butts kicked. It's really some fun fishing, the catching could be a little bit better. Wish us luck as we plan to do battle again tomorrow with the mighty mean bluefin tuna. The Supreme Team!

Good evening and happy July to everyone. After not capturing a seabass last night, we shot offshore to try our hand at the tuna game. Nothing to write home about other than a beautiful 20 lb. Yellowtail that we pulled off a kelp. All we can do is remain confident that in time, things will take shape and we'll be ready for those tunas' when they quit being pansies and show themselves. After more driving around we made a move to the inside to do some bonding at the Banda Bank and we managed to entice some tasty critters to latch on to our hooks. It wasn't too great of a bite but we tagged some excellent table fare for the gang to take home.

As the sun began to set, we gave the seabass game another try, this time more southerly than last nights spot and just like last night, we were unsuccessful in the game. We had plenty of squid and had enough around us that we thought we could hook a couple croakers, but it never happened. All in all, it was a slow trip at times but we made the best out of the situation and put our passengers on some action. The group Garth brought out from Optima Networks and other various outlets were a pleasure to have on-board and we look forward to seeing them back in the future.

On a side note, we here at the Polaris Supreme would like to welcome back Chef Barry Benson to the team. Barry was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and with many treatments during the winter, Barry is back with us and better than ever. I've personally known Barry since 2000, when I was a chubby little 14 year old working together on the Holiday. He's a good friend of mine and I along with the rest of the crew are all thrilled that he's back and even more thrilled that he's recovered from his battle with cancer. He's missed being on the water and he's looking forward to many more adventures on the Polaris Supreme with all the fine people that we've come to share the rail with over the years.

That is all. We'll arrive at Fisherman's Landing tomorrow morning at 0600 in the morning and we'll be back out on Thursday for back to back three day trips. We'll report to you then, enjoy your weekends.

Hi friends. We departed Fisherman's Landing Thursday evening on our inaugural Optima 1 1/2 charter. We topped off on sardines and made a hard right turn coming out of the bay to go try our hand at some local White Seabass action. We gave it a shot and even with some live squid we were unsuccessful in hooking one. Since the distance to the local tuna grounds is close to home we decided to play around in the evening hours do some seabass fishing before we left for the tuna grounds.

That's what's going on. No seabass and we'll be trying our hand on the local grounds for some Bluefin tuna. Our weather is fine and the boys are very excited to do some tuna fishing. Wish us luck.

The bluefin fishing has stayed consistent. Everyday we get a few legitimate chances to catch this beautiful grade of fish. Along with the bluefin tuna we have been seeing good sign of yellowfin tuna as well. We have yet to get them to bite but it’s any day now they could get with ! 

The annual Burgesons private charter went the distance today. They were rewarded with limits of dorado and 13 yellowfin tuna.
