Another travel day to get to the tuna grounds. Good weather and good food. Fresh tuna steaks with oriental fresh vegetables for lunch and a tasty New York steak for dinner. We are ready to get our lines wet. Wish us luck. By the way, those of you up around Sacramento, go to the boat show and look for Dave Dunham in the Polaris Supreme booth. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 11-11-16 Today we are going to start out our report by telling Carla Studley that her husband Tom Studley would like to tell her he loves her and has been happy to have been married to her for so many wonderful years. Happy Anniversary Carla and Tom! After writing that last sentence I just found out that Mark and Eve on board are having an anniversary today! Congratulations to you two also! Well on to fishing. I don't know where they came from I'm glad they did we just had a great day Wahoo fishing! What a great place to celebrate your anniversary for Mark and Eve catching Wahoo on board the Polaris supreme! At least you get the benefit at home Carla with Wahoo tacos Wahoo Almond Dean and what ever delicious dish you can come up with. We have great weather and are having a fantastic time out here we are hoping the Wahoo are going to stick around inside here like they were today, that would be fantastic to do this two days in a row! There were many schools around and it took a lot of work but we got them to play!  There are Yellowfin Tuna schools and Kelp patty Yellowtail in the area as well.

We were able to get a great evening hit on the 60-100lb Bluefin.

Shown here are father and son teams Captain Alec with his father Joe and  Isaac with his father Isaac Sr. with Both duos were able to land a large Bluefin.

Good evening from the Polaris Supreme bridge. Today was our first full day of travel. We still have this big swell following us down the line, but it's not doing us any harm.  We're rolling down swell with it, so it's not a real big deal.  I wouldn't mind it being a few degrees warmer, but it is the middle of February.  Everyone got to sleep in a little bit and have a nice breakfast at 0800.  The crew gave a wahoo seminar mid morning the get the guys tuned up on catching some "skinnies".  It's nothing new to the OTR guys,  but a little refresher course never hurts.  They got right into making their leaders, rigging wahoo bombs and so forth. Certainly helps break up a travel day.  Chef Mike and Gringo put out a real nice Chicken and artichoke penne pasta with pesto sauce and garlic bread for lunch. That dish always makes for a nice nap afterward.      

                The rest of the afternoon was just a bunch of catching up with old friends, eating more food as we always do on these trips and the crew doing a few chores before dinner.  Just another standard travel day here on the Polaris Supreme. Till tomorrow, this is the Supreme boys out.

The Apollo returned tonight to Seaforth Landing. We had a good 2 day trip and our group of anlgers caught 45 Yellowtail & 24 Yellowfin Tuna. The offshore conditions are looking up!

July 24

Good evening everyone. Today was more of the same as the last couple days. Still seeing tons of fish. Still struggling to get bites. Same thing. See a school, stop and catch fish one at a time. The cool thing about it is we're stopped fishing a lot more then regular fishing days so we're staying occupied. The only thing different for us today was that we saw multiple schools of big bluefin. The 50-80 pound stuff but it's even harder to get one of those to bite. We ended up hooking a few and landing a couple of 70 pounders. We'll do it again for one more day, the last fishing day of this trip. Hopefully they'll want to bite better tomorrow. There is no way we would leave this zone with all the fish we are seeing.

Good evening everyone, This morning started early with most anglers fishing a dropper loop before grey light. Fishing was slow with a handful of quality 20 pound class yellowtail being caught with a few nice sized grouper coming over the rail. As the morning progressed, fishing started to pick up with anglers hooking fish on flylined baits, the dropper loop, as well as the sliding sinker rig. A couple of these fish were unwilling to leave their rock homes, and were able to wrap the lines in some of the jagged bottom structure before breaking off. As the sun rose in the sky, we were able to pick off a couple more of these fish before we found the right school. A little before noon, we settled into a school of fish that wanted too bite a little bit better. We were able to keep these fish around the boat for the rest of the day, and would hook a handful at a time as they bit in flurries from 2-7 fish at once. Majority of these yellowtail were in the 20-25 pound class and came off the flylined sardine or mackerel. One 50lb class grouper made its way over the rail which fell victim to a sardine flylined on 30 pound test. With the day winding down, we decided to point the boat toward the kelp zone in order to give ourselves an early shot at some more fish in the morning. Hopefully we will be able to capitalize on what has already been a great trip with an awesome group of fishermen and women. Will Report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

We had some good fishing on the yellows today around 12-18 pounds with some at 25 lbs. We released 100's of smaller ones.

There was plenty of action. The guys are having a great time. Our weather is ok not great, not bad. There is a little bit better sign of albacore. They are improving from what it has been recently. We will fish the yellowtail again tomorrow and save the last couple of days for tuna fishing. For dinner we had turkey breast with sausage bread stuffing and a sage wine sauce. So goodnight and wish us good luck for tomorrow!
