st croix Fishing Report 2025

These yellowtail are keeping us on our toes ! After two slow mornings in a row, we decided to start our trip out fishing sandbass. While we were catching bass for our mostly beginner group we got the word that the yellowtail were biting a little bit. After running the 12 miles to get in position we managed to land 15 yellows. These fish are 15-25 lbs. and extremely mean.

Please bring a 30 lb. rod to fly line sardines if you are coming out with us. Tomorrow we have a private charter but will be back to our open party run on Sunday. I will check back tomorrow.

Polaris Supreme Report 7-26-2016 Today the weather flattened out and got comfortably warm. We started out by catching less of the little yellowtail that has been around in such force, and more quality fish. Although the baby yellows were not as big of a problem today, the sign is slowly disappearing here. Even so we still caught many quality yellows. It was very enjoyable catching the big fish and not having to weed through the small ones and Bonito like yesterday. In the early afternoon we decided to head offshore and start making our way up the line putting ourselves in position for fishing tomorrow. In our travels we found some kelps that kicked out a few more yellows as well as a beautiful Dorado. Looking forward to tomorrow, Team Supreme

Hello everyone We are wrapping up our Beck, Wagstaf and Emerson and Friends 5 day trip today. This trip the Joe Beck, Mal Wagstaf and Emerson and friends charters joined forces on this summer time five day trip. We had some great fishing on some great quality yellowtail. Most of the fish were well into the 25 lb class with some pushing 30lbs. The fish were up high and very surface oriented. They were being hooked on the fly line sardine and surface iron. It doesn't get much better than yellows boiling around the boat and chewing on the surface iron. We had very few small fish mixed in with these biting yellows, the vast majority were great quality fish. It was a great relief getting into these big biting fish after a few trying trips with tough conditions. The next leg of our trip was spent offshore and lead to fantastic kelp patty fishing. The kelps we found had great sized yellows on them school size tuna and also some trophy Dorado. We were able to top off our yellowtail count and mix it up with some Dorado and tuna as well. The water was blue, the fish were biting, and the weather was flat calm. Everything one would ask for during an offshore fishing day. Unfortunate the weather made it very difficult to work yesterday but we did manage to get in a couple good opportunities. It the morning we got on a school of bluefin tuna right way and where able to drift for a few hours keeping multiple fish hooked. In the afternoon we found a new area of yellowfin tuna that looked very encouraging and we got a couple good chances at those as well. The weather is forecasted to be good for the next week so hopefully we can continue to get on them !! 

21 yellowfin tuna 7 skipjack. Had enough fish under and around the boat to catch 200. Unfortunately we never found a school that was easy to hook. We will try again tomorrow. Starting to see some large sardines. Please bring some size 2 and 2/0 hooks.

Hello anglers. We have a very short notice opening. This is a 5 day leaving Nov. 1st. returning Nov. 6th. We are going to Guadalupe Island. JJ had been there on a few trips already this year and fishing has been amazing. Call Toke if you can make this one. 310-413-4343

Mike Pritchard called in with this report from the Tribute. "We had a little bit of the choppy weather hear today. We have a little over 50 mixed fish. So far we have caught some Dorado with Bluefin mixed in. We still have plenty of daylight left and we're hoping to pull in some more Bluefin. We'll keep you posted as the day progresses.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-07-2012

Absolutely gorgeous flat calm weather today. And that was the key to pulling the rabbit out of the hat at the end of the day. Definitely a slow start from morning through mid-day. But in the afternoon it was game on, on light breezers of yellowfin tuna. The schools probably only held 50 fish each and were really, really hard to see. Just barely making the lightest ripple on the water. The challenge of it made it really fun for Drew and I trying to spot them. Especially since they immediately bum rushed the boat when we slid on them. And everybody hooked one right off the bat. If you were quick, you got two before it was all over. And then off we were to find another school. The fast pace was very exciting after the last two days of plunker fishing. We fished late so we will have a late arrival tomorrow, probably around 9:00 am. We will get out an update on jackpot contenders and then for the next 3-day, Captain Drew will be out with the Prince of Words, Richie, doing the updates.
