Today we turned and burned in hopes of getting back into that great biting tuna! Hopefully they are just as eager as we left em!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-08-2012 Jack pot.

Well here we are back at the dock from Tom Chaparro's annual 6-day trip. And what a fantastic trip it was. From the anglers, weather, fishing, good times were definitely had by all. Tom's going to do his 6-day in the same spot next year but limited to only 18 anglers.

It was a beautiful catch to see all laid out on the deck. The tuna were in absolutely gorgeous condition, vibrant and glowing in the early morning sunshine as we arrived into San Diego Bay. The first place jackpot weighed up at the scale was Rich Vande Noord with a 48.2 lb.

yellowfin tuna. He also had a 47.9 pounder. Second place was one of those guys you just love to love, Herb Yamanaka. Herb, thank you for your heartfelt homespun wooden treasures. We all, passengers and crew, will cherish them. You're the man! Herb's fish was a 46 lb. yellowfin tuna. Third place went to Kyle Krajewski with a 44.3 lb. yellowfin tuna. I'll see you on the road tomorrow Kyle. Thanks again Tom for bringing out a couple ladies instead of all stinky guys. It was a blast to have Mary and Taylor on board. Hope you all made it home safe and sound.

Keep Cool when it gets HOT and HEAVY! We had fantastic Yellowfin Tuna fishing today. They bit very well and grade was excellent. 15-25 lbs average with 35-40lbers mixed in. The only thing hotter than the fishing was the Baja sun. Pictured here is chef Mike bring water to crewmen Ben and the rest of the passengers during a hot bite. When it comes to Wahoo. You should always have at least one of these! Black and orange Marauder tried and true, year after year!

Had a nice day of fishing today. Great weather and conditions. We had to work hard for our Wahoo and Yellowtail but the ones we did land were very nice grade. Hopefully the Yellows bite a little in the dark. Wish us luck! Also we have a 1.5 day trip leaving on July 20th that still has openings, jump on it to try your shot at some quality local Bluefin! Longtime charter company Burgesons Heating and Air experienced a good stop on 18-30 lb yellowfin as well as good Skipjack fishing. Back to open party fishing tomorrow. Please bring a 20 lb rod and a 40 lb rod.

 Well this day has to start with last night.  During and after dinner the military helicopters were up and they were blowing up San Clemente and it was rad. We could see the tracers which were very bright and flew just as fast as the 5 rounds in between each tracer with about each strafing run having about 12 tracers per, which is over 100 rounds.  We could see the glow of each tracer bouncing off the island. And after we thought it was cool enough we went to bed.

 In the morning we started fishing.  We had a little action.  We basically drifted for a couple hours hooking fish.  Sometimes we had one going, sometimes we had four, and sometimes we had none but for some reason it didn't add up to as much as we would've thought.  We were losing alot and we attributed that to the hammer head sharks that were swimming around.  We think that they were stealing a lot of the tuna we hooked.  When that dried up we went searching and a little after 10:00 we found a dandy school and went sideways(drifted) for a while.  I'd have to call it almost wide open for about 1/2 an hour and then a pick for 15 minutes after that.  During lunch we were drifting on tuna too but we weren't hooking a whole lot.  We only caught about six that time.  And after that the life vanished so we moved on.

 It took a couple hours but we found what we were looking for.  Tuna.  Unfortunately they were the non biting ones.  I'll tell you though, it was a sight to see.  Sonar schools, breezers, boilers, foamers.  You name it, it was awesome.  We did get a couple descent drifts there in the end and all and all we're calling this a very successfully trip.

 We'll be dockside until Oct. 3.  You guys didn't book.  My babies going to have to wear hand me down shoes now.  All of her friends are going to make fun of her.  Oh well.  We"ll get through it.  We'll do a little maintenance on the boat while we're in but we don't need to do much.  The boats been running great as soon as we got rid of those early season gremlins.  See you all Oct. 3rd.
