somd Fishing Report 2025

This is the launching of the Polaris Supreme after our Haul out. We hauled out at Shelter Island Boat Yard and all though it was my longest ever it was definitely the least pain less. Thank You Guys in the yard, And Girls in the office.

The San Diego would like to thank everyone for a Great Year! We had very good fishing for a variety of species including: Yellowtail, Bluefin Tuna, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna and more. We are hauling out tomorrow and will be doing maintenance for a couple weeks in the dry dock. We will then finish up at the dock at Seaforth. We will most likely run a few trips during Christmas Holiday and we anticipate being online next year for Winter Yellowtail fishing. Thanks again!!!!

49 yellowfin tuna 11 yellowtail. We also saw a few schools of 50-100 lb bluefin. The wise angler would come prepared with an assortment of line sizes from 20 to 40 lb.

Hi friends. We had ourselves a pretty eventful day for a rather slow day of Yellowtail fishing. I'm not going to lie; I think the entire crew had visions of hundred-plus fish drifts and not looking at breezers of non-biting fish, but rather breezers of snappin' fish. Well, the Bluefin worked their magic on our favorite Yellowtail hole and the Yellowtails acted just like Bluefin all day. We saw multiple breezers and we'd be lucky to capture two or three fish. We did have one nice drift this morning but for the most part we just picked and scratched to make a score. But, we did what we had to and made a day of it.

Other notable events of the day: We started bronzing at 0622 hours, it was sunny and toasty out for the majority of the day. We also caught and released about a dozen Black Sea Bass, we had a nice snap on the Calicos, Stephen Pistone took a sabiki rig hook to the finger, and Mark did everything that you would expect of Mark. I'll just leave it at that.

Anyhow, we're on our way up to finish off our trip at the Bluefin grounds and Chef Shabba and Shawn are kicking out sesame seared Ahi with fried rice and veggies. Tasty. Long Drive Big Reward! Today we had a great day of fishing. We had quite the variety today, and they were all great grade! We had a few big Dorado on a jumbo kelp, and when we finally got settled in we were able to catch some great grade Yellowtail and Yellowfin tuna! We will try another spot tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the evening. Today we had 61 Yellowtail. The fishing down there at the Coronado Islands is phenomenal. We have been catching between 50 and 178 Yellowtail per day. They are biting on all techniques: Yoyo fishing, Fly-lined Sardines, and Surface Iron too. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay.  Today we fished at the Coronado Islands.  The offshore action has been too inconsistent.

Today we had 14 anglers catch 24 Yellowtail (10 to 20 pounders).  They were biting the surface iron pretty good.  Fly-lined sardines also worked well on 25 pound test.  You should bring a yoyo outfit too.  We also had 21 Bonito today.  We also had some Calico Bass action.
