Tony “Big Delicious” LaDell with 4 of the 50 yellowfin we landed today. We also had 101 skipjack. Still plenty of fish around, all it takes is one stop.

Hello everyone, Today we fished in yellowtail country. Fishing was good, we managed to piece together a nice day on these quality yellowtail. All very good size fish ranging from 15-28 lbs, with the dropper loop and yo yo iron being the hot ticket. We were able to scratch at yellowtail for most of the day until we had to start making our way to San Diego. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Capt. Mike Pritchard called from the Tribute with this update. "Just outstanding fishing on those Yellowtail. We are done, full boat limits for our 31 passengers. Very, very good kelp fishing here. Now we'll go looking for some Tuna, hopefully we'll find some.

July 19
  Today went well I thought.  Starting with our ride up last night.  As good as it gets.  Flat calm.  The only swell was a long swell that would slowly, gently rock the boat.  We slept like babies.  In fact, I think I woke up with my thumb in my mouth.  I let everyone sleep in if they chose to.  We didn't start fishing until just before 9:00 in the morning.

  We were pleasantly surprised with the fishing.  It was good.  We tried for some more yellows, for us, and to check out the grounds for future trips as well and they bit well.  We kept 2-4 going the whole time until we drove away from them.  "We left them biting".  Our favorite thing to say out here.  After that we ran up and made a few drifts for some Cod.  We had the time and I had a few requests so we caught a few rockfish.

  Now we're headed home.  The crew's scrubbing the boat, I'm writing this, I think there may be a poker game going on, and we're just hanging out and enjoying ourselves and the beautiful ride up.  The wind and swell are on our stern.  That storm out there is blessing us with a lovely ride home.  Its like we're riding down but we're going up.  Timing is everything.  Sometimes it all comes together and this trip was one of them.

  So we'll be home bright and early tomorrow and of course we'll be headed back out a few hours later.
         

We arrived today at the island around noon. There were plenty of fish but not as many bites as we expected. However most of the fish we did hook managed to come on the boat. We had a high landing percentage of the fish we hooked today. Not as bad of a shark problem today. Hopefully the ratio continues and we hook more fish tomorrow!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-30-2016 What we started out our first day fishing with great hopes of success catching yellowtail right off the bat on the anchor. Those dreams ended quickly with only a handful of fish off-color dirty water and really not that much life compared to what we had seen in this area before. Knowing we needed to make tracks heading towards what we hope will be tomorrow's hot tuna grounds we quickly departed for offshore kelp patty fishing the rest of the day. Although we were in excellent water and saw plenty of kelp's we had no success. Beautiful weather fun group of guys no fish. That pretty much sums up yesterday. Hi friends. Tough day on the Bluefin grounds for us. We got on a spot around breakfast time and boated a kill box full of those school-sized Bluefins but after that, we never found anything worthy of our time and effort. With that, we bailed from the area and made a move to lower latitudes. The rest of our day was spent hitting various kelp paddies for mostly "neck tie" Yellowtail but we also found ourselves in a couple of stops on Common Dolphin for some 18 lb. Yellowfin tunas that hit the trolling feathers. All in all, it wasn't quite what we had hoped for but with the great weather we had going for us we gave it our all and the gang kept in high spirits throughout our day.

With that, we're headed down to do some Yellowtail fishing tomorrow. We'll see what happens. We'd like to get outside and get on some of that Yellowfin tuna that is biting a little bit but timing wise hitting the yellow's first fits in better. We'll chat with you tomorrow and have a fine evening.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "Captain Randy Kramer is running the boat today. He just called in with limits of Yellowtail, 7 Dorado and a handful of Bluefin for the morning. The weather is very nice and they are having good kelp fishing, with a good sign of Bluefin. So we'll keep you updated as the day goes on.
