Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme July 5 after a five-day trip with 23 anglers. His fishermen had plenty of albacore, but bluefin swept the jackpot spots. "What a great day of fishing," wrote Drew July 2. "Just couldn't be better. Everyone has had their fill of albacore so we are heading off to do some Island fishing for some of those big yellowtail. We should be there by daybreak tomorrow. Weather is fantastic."
At the dock, Drew said, "We got limits of albacore. Benitos has a lot of fish, but they're not biting very well, and the seals are. Yesterday afternoon we had a three-hour bite. The cedar plug is getting a lot of troll fish, ans so is my favorite, the ‚Дтscreamin' pink,' skirted jig." Ray Mercieca of Arcadia won first place for a 38-pound bluefin. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 Mustad 91450 hook, 30-pound P-Line, a Penn 950 SS spinning reel and a Daiwa seven-foot spinning rod. Greg Culbert of Ojai was second, for a 36-pound bluefin and Bob Norman of Green Valley, AZ was third, for a 32-pound bluefin tuna.

Another great start today. The Yellowtail are biting extreme well. It was a great couple hours of fishing to start the day. 

After we had enough inshore fishing we decided to head offshore to look for Bluefin. We were able to connect later in the day, with 5 Tuna up to 40 lbs. 

Tough conditions offshore, hoping the tuna will bite better soon.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in tonight from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had 20 passengers fishing at the Coronado Islands. We had 8 Yellowtail and 25 Rockfish. We saw a decent sign of Yellowtail but they only bit for a short time. They were biting on the YoYo iron but you should also bring a rod to fly-line too! Today was mostly spent traveling. We'd tried an area first thing this morning and if it would have produced we would of hung out but we didn't have high hopes due to the poor reports of the previous boats who fished there but it was along our travel route so of course we looked at it. Basicaly we tried a few spots in the am and another in the afternoon for some fish taco meat ( which we had for lunch and it was delicous by the way) before arriving to the top end of the ridge just at dark. We fished there till after dinner catching small yellows, small tunas, and other various species of fish we didn't tag until pulling anchor and continuing on down. We'll be arriving in tomorrows hot spot at midnight tonight and we're hoping to get this party started and soon as we get there but we'll take it at sunrise too. Weathers mostly great down here. Not much wind, hot, sunny and clear.

Aug. 24

Good evening from the Polaris Supreme. We're just starting off with our two week span of 1 1/2 trips. The first bait loading didn't go too swell. It looked like a rave party in the crowder when we loaded it. All sorts of fun colors with the silver shiny glitter(scales) being the dominate color with red coming in a close second. It is what it is. Hopefully we find something to use it on early tomorrow because I'm not so sure they will be swimming come lunch time. After that they'll just have to bite the dead bait which I have seen the yellowfin do countless times before. So here we go, Prime Ribbing it now, some z's in the future and then fishing it tomorrow.
