scottsbt Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. The water rolled at the Coronado Islands and the Yellowtail have stopped biting. We had 5 Bluefin Tuna today. We had 3 fish around 75 pounds and 1 fish weighing in at 120 pounds and the biggest fish was a 130 pounder.

The fish are biting fly-lined baits but they are really biting the Poppers. Make sure you bring you 50 pound out at a minimum.
We have seen some fishing pushing 200 pounds but we have not caught one of them yet!

Sept. 25

Today we got nasty aboard the Polaris Supreme. And I mean nasty. When I use the term nasty I mean it in a good way. Unless I'm talking about the weather. If I say the weather is nasty I mean it was nasty. And by the way the weather was nasty today. It was windy windy windy and the swell was up and it was steep and we were rolling baby. It didn't bother us though because we were getting nasty on those bluefin tunas. Shortly after firing up after daylight Jed called down from above "tern birds pickin starboard bow". So I turned toward starboard bow and there was tern birds a pickin and when we rolled up on them, wouldn't you know it there was a big school of bluefin under them. I love those beautiful little white tern birds. They're the best of the fish finders. Find tern birds and you usually find game fish. For two hours it was game on. I mean they were snappin! 35-50 pound tunas? Yup. After the initial two hour whack things became civil and we scratched at them for another five hours. We could of kept picking at them but we had enough and the weather was getting worse so we headed east for the rest of the day and found nice weather in there. Night and day compared to what we had out west. We didn't catch much in there, a few small yellows and dorado but we didn't care. We had a heaven of a day already. We're on our way in. We have one night in and then we're back at it again. See you then.

Ok guys we are just finishing up the last few items on our maintenance list. We plan to start fishing daily on Saturday February 2. These trips will be targeting yellowtail at the Coronado islands. If we do not see yellowtail we will target bottom fish. Bring a yo-yo rod a live bait rod and a rock cod outfit. These trips will cost $105 which includes your Mexican permit. Come join us !

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-26-2016 Good evening and thanks for checking in. We started this morning at our chosen destination only to find rather unfavorable conditions due to cold water. Looking past that, we still gave it our efforts and ended up getting a few on board. We finally decided after a couple hours that the colder water just wasn't going to work, we chose to make a move to another area a few hours a way and take a look around. Low and behold, there happened to be even colder water there. Needless to say, there was no stopping, so we just continued on to the west . It didn't to take long to find absolutely gorgeous, more than fishable waters. We spent the rest of the afternoon hitting a line of beautiful size kelps scratching away at good grade Dorados and yellows. We'll travel overnight to the tuna grounds with hopes of shutting down on that one glory school to finish out the trip in style. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-04-2016 Thanks for checking in, Our morning started off somewhat slow, however as the sun started to rise it got better with more and more fish coming under the boat. After hooking four fish and loosing them all! We knew we were in for a battle with some big mean Bluefin tuna! And when I say big and mean that's just what they were! The average fight time was about 45 minutes to an hour. Our hook to land ratio was 1 in 5 , But after a few adjustments it stated to improve very well. And just in time because right about lunch time the fish really started to turn on big time! At one point I counted at least five going at one time and they were all big fish. After the smoke cleared and most tended to their battle wounds we ended up having a nice day. The Polaris Supreme Crew!
