The Tribute checekd in with us today with 88 fat Yellowfin Tuna and 54 Skipjack for their angler’s today. Most of the fish came during a wide open bite first thing in the morning.

Well today was another tough day for the whole group. A couple stops on 40-70 lb. tuna and a sprinkling of 100-120 lb. fish, but for the most part slow. The weather is still good and the food great. We had lobster salad and home made cream of chicken soup for lunch, and another superb sushi sashimi layout before a prime cut steak and potato dinner. We'll be looking at a new area tomorrow.

7 Yellowfin Tuna 169 Skipjack Tuna.  Weather is forecasted to be very nice this week.  Don’t be part of the “day after” crowd.  We still have plenty of good fishing ahead of us.

Wow what a first week of fishing.

There is a huge spectrum of fish to catch out there now. Some days it's 60-80 lb Bluefin, then 100-200 lb Bluefin , the next it's 12-20 lb Yellowtail and Dorado on kelp patties, then 20-40 lb Bluefin and Yellowfin tuna the next! The local waters are full of life right now. We can't wait to get back out there this Sunday for our open 1.5 day trip!

Oct. 1

I have very little to write about today. Everyone just chilled out. It's tough to say that though because it was so hot today. You'll have that when your at a lower latitude then Cabo San Lucas. Today was our last day of travel. You can tell when that day has arrived because Charlie starts to lose his mind. He can keep it together for about 3 days of travel but any longer then that he starts to get a little coo coo. He was sitting in the wheel house today counting the flying fish he saw flying by as the boat spooked them. He also walked about 3 miles around the boat. All this is very necessary to keep Charlie at a sane enough level to keep everyone on board safe so we encourage it. Everyone else did the same old same old. Movies, rigging, cigars, naps and Mark just ate food all day. We arrive to our destination at about 4:00 in the morning and we're all really excited to do so. Tomorrows report will have to do with fishing.

First things first !! I think a hearty Sportfishingreport.com congratulations are in order for J.J Gerritsen and the crew of the Apollo for their clean #1 sweep in annual SFR fishcount standings for 2006. Yellowfin Tuna # 1!!!!!!!!!!!, Albacore Tuna # 1!!!!!!!, Dorado #1 !!!! Very impressive numbers indeed !!!! Way to go guys, awesome year !!!!So when good friend and Santa Barbara local Doug Browand called and said a bunch of local firefighters and friends had chartered the #1 boat in the land for a little Island Freelance trip, I was packing my gear and clearing my schedule in a hurry. We loaded up on time and headed out of Sea Landing in Santa Barbara straight to Santa Rosa Island in case the squid and WSB wanted to show. J.J promised us some outrageous rockfish and lingcod action if the seabass were still MIA. We gave it a solid effort but with no signs of squid or WSB we motored up and headed out to some of Captain J.J's secret rocks and reefs. The first drift of the day produced monster reds and chuckles that rival some of the nicest and biggest rockfish I've seen and caught in many years. The Channel Islands Rockfishing is on Fire !!!!!! Throw a bunch of nice legal lings into the mix and you're talking a really fine day of fishing and a great time for all. The fishing at the Islands is only going to get better and J.J and the boys on the Apollo will be there fishing for them everyday. Passing up the small numbers of big Bluefin, targeting big variety! We departed today on our annual Hess 7 day charter. We are pointed south targeting Wahoo, Yellowtail, and Yellowfin tuna! The weather is great and the prime rib is Delicious. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

We departed yesterday on the annual Jeff Hall 5-day trip yesterday and pointed it straight for Cedros. We arrived this afternoon and our first anchor job produced about an hour of yellowtail fishing before the bite sizzled away. Checked a couple other spots for not very much before it got dark. We're going to stay the night and spend a full day here tomorrow and take it from there.
