Good evening Polaris Supreme fans.  Checking in from the tuna grounds.  This morning started out at at  with kites in the sky and lines in the water right away.  We were hoping to start the day off by seeing a school of Skipjack or small tuna below the boat to use as bait, but they didn't seem to find us.  Foe those who don't know, that is candy for giant yellowfin.  As the progressed, we did however see an increase in shark life.  That seemed to be the trend today.  We did manage to land a handful of tuna from 50-100 lbs, with Bill Mikkelson leading the pack with a nice 169 lb tuna.  At the the age of 84, he's still showing the young guys how it's done.  There was certainly good sign of life as we drove around trolling for wahoo, which we managed to throw another handful of on deck.   Speaking of wahoo, Chef Mike served an amazing wahoo melt sandwich today for lunch that was to die for.  A slow day of fishing can always be cured by a nice eal, and Mike never fails to deliver.

                So, tomorrow we fight on and hope to get on that one school that wants to chew for us. That's all it takes. Thanks for checking in and til tomorrow, this is the boys on the Supreme saying good night

Polaris Supreme Report 07-25-2016 Hey everyone, Another beautiful day out here on the offshore waters of northern Baja. Today we searched for kelp patties, breeezers, and bird schools. We did very well finding kelp, however it just doesn't seem that the large volume of fish has moved in on them yet. Hopefully soon! Later in the afternoon we found a nice temp break that lead some exotic Dorado and Yellowtail, even a Sea Turtle popped got in on the action. The yellows were large and healthy, and the Dorado were a welcome sight and hopefully a good precursor to the warm water fish months ahead. Tomorrow we will be fishing for big yellowtail and maybe a seabass or two Wish us luck! Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 12-05-2018

Tuna fishing this morning was excellent. We took off around 10 o'clock and did a tour of the South end of the island sightseeing. Yep that's right decided to go sightseeing. The guys and gals had a great morning and they've had several great days and of course we have tomorrow to fish for a full day. So we decided to show them some of the sites! That of course was easy and a great success. We anchored backup for the afternoon and scratched a few more fish before dark. Tomorrow will be our last day here at the island. Hoping for a big morning and then maybe go do some yellowtail fishing.

Hello everyone, Today we wanted a Yellowtail topper, and a yellowtail topper we got! By no means wide open, but enough yellows to keep everyone busy for a half a day. The hot ticket was the famed blue and white 6x yo yo iron, tried and true for years and still holding strong today. All and all a nice day of yellowtail fishing to round out a great fall 7 day variety trip. It was really something catching Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and Yellowtail all in one trip! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, so after our great Yellowtail topper we pointed the boat northbound to San Diego. We are very far from home so we have another day of travel ahead of us tomorrow Another successful trip logged away here aboard Polaris Supreme! Will report again tomorrow, The Supreme Team.  We spent today offshore mostly looking to top off on dorado.  There were 7 of us long range boats looking to do the same today.  There was plenty of this warm water for all though.  Unfortunately there wasn't enough kelps with fish on them for all.  We were one of the more lucky ones.  We didn't completely top off but we were only 20 fish shy.  Along with the dorado we caught some small tuna off a few spots.  3-5 pounders.  Now keep in mind most everyone on board have never fished out here in there lives.  When everyone on board hooked one of these tuna at once, it was great.  They were all so excited and they all just loved it.  Don't worry, I very much encouraged the release of these fish.  This was a great group of guys.  Great.  Super laid back and just enjoyed every minute out here.  Caught a bunch of colorful jumping dorado, lots of yellers and even a marlin.  I can't wait to have them back.  And you know it's true too because I usually don't write that.  I love all our passengers.

 Tomorrow we get in and leave again for just 2 days this time.  Hopefully we get out of there good and early and then et some fishing in tomorrow.  I have no idea what we'll do after that though.  Time will tell.
    

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Hello good friends and happy Friday to all of you. A short day for us as we only had a few minor jobs to wrap up. We completed the final sanding of the hull and with a slight change of plans to the inside bulwarks, we had to sand the entire inside of the boat but only the stern section from gate to gate. So now the entire outside of the hull, the inside of the bulwarks from the boarding gates aft, and spots forward of the gates are ready to go for the gloss coat. It only took us a couple of hours to square everything away and with a much needed freshwater rinse and cleaning up, our day was complete and we started the weekend off early. Also this morning, the propellers, shafts, and rudders were put back in and on Monday, the painters will be suiting up and applying the gloss coat. Man, what a fantastic day that will be. Not only for the boat but for us as well. Painting days mean very short days for the crew, so it's pretty much a three-day weekend for us and with the NBA Playoffs starting on Saturday, the weekend is going to be a good one. With that said, it's pretty much all downhill from here (knock on wood).

Our haul-out will be about half-complete with the major sanding and painting being finished on Monday. After that, it's on to the bait tank for our next painting project. We still have to sand our mahogany rails, drill and replace the zincs, and a few other jobs to complete and hopefully, we'll be back in the water sometime next week. It's a good thing we got into the boatyard early this year as it's starting to get a little bit crowded down there. Along with a couple of naval vessels, tug boats, commercial fishing boats and some private yachts, the long-range fleet is starting to make their way onto the blocks. With the Red Rooster III splashing down this morning after their stay at Knight & Carver, the Spirit of Adventure and Qualifier 105 were hauled out as well and the Searcher expected to be with us sometime in the next few days, it'll be nice to get back home and finish things up back at the docks. Just like our longer trips in the fall/winter, it's always a relief to arrive back to our slip at Fisherman's Landing. It's also special to tie back up to the docks because that means Mitch's Seafood for lunch a few days a week. Can't beat that.

Jackpot! Wow what a great day. We had very, very good fishing on nice grade tuna. With the light load we have on this trip the anglers had lots of action. Our scores are as follows: Lon 274 lb., Greg 144, 110, and 152 pounders, Matt a 136 lb., John a 200 pounder, Mike 90, 125, and a 70 pounder, Tim 195 lbs., Chris 70 lbs., and Bill 70, 160, and a 304 pounder! Our weather is good. Lunch was a great seafood pasta and for dinner we went down home with some bar-b-que ribs, beans and corn on the cob. We were all so excited to have this nice big hit on the big fish.
