Greetings Apollo Anglers,

We have a two day charter that has one opening due to illness.

The two day trip departs Sept. 19 (Wed.).fishing September 20 & 21 (Thurs. & Fri.), This is an ultra limited load of 18 anglers that has fished together for over 10 years.

The cost of the trip is $600 per angler includes food and permits.

The Apollo has been getting bluefin, yellowfin, yellowtail, albacore and dorado.

Today was greatly disappointing after such a great fishing yesterday. Our efforts for better quality fish did not pay off. We saw great signs of 80-100 lb. fish but they just didn't want to cooperate. They would boil up good and look promising, but we only got a handful of fish. We are going to leave this place and give it time to straighten out. We are going to look for a new area. Our weather is still absolutely premium. Warm, hot and balmy. Thanks for checking in.

I have a little web-site update for you. We have put all of our photos from the past years, into albums on the photo page. As you will see they are categorized by year first, then the date of the trip, then the group. In the past they have all been grouped together in one big mess. Hopefully this will help you find the trip you were on in the past years. Also you will be able to more easily create your own photo albums for the trips you were on. A new update on offshore fishing. Last weekend's 2-day trip was a huge success targeting the big bluefin. Drew and the boys got the anglers into the fish at 150 miles and had a five hour long drift where they hooked over fifty 65-75 pound bluefin! When the dust settled they had 23 of these beauties on deck. They also picked up seven smaller grade bluefin and a few of the small yellows. For those of you going out on upcoming trips you defiantly need the usual 50 lb. 2-speed reel. Some of the guys also had 40 lb. 2-speeds and it was the true money maker for this bigger fish. It was the best of both worlds having lighter line that got bit better and the 2-speed that really let then put the  pressure on the fish after the initial run. So put one in your bag.

Also yesterday fish popped up in good volume closer to home at 70-100 miles. We are watching this to see how this develops for the shorter trips. Hopefully we won't have to make the 120-150 mile run. Had a nice day of fishing today. Great weather and conditions. We had to work hard for our Wahoo and Yellowtail but the ones we did land were very nice grade. Hopefully the Yellows bite a little in the dark. Wish us luck! Also we have a 1.5 day trip leaving on July 20th that still has openings, jump on it to try your shot at some quality local Bluefin! 176 yellowfin tuna 2 skipjack tuna. Finesse bait gear has proven to be very important. Today’s high liners were fishing 15&20 lb and #4 & #2 live bait hooks. Keep a 40 lb rod nearby because we have had some short windows of aggressive fish.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we fished at the Coronado Islands. We had 47 anglers catch 117 Yellowtail. The water is nice and warm and the Yellowtail are biting on fly-lined sardines and the surface iron. We are online every day. Capt Ryan checked in last night from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing with a report for yesterdays trip, we went out with 36 anglers. We ended up with 35 Yellowtail, we have had a few days of weather this last week and it dropped the water temperature. We had a lot of novice anglers today who caught their first ever Yellowtail. Everything worked today from dropper loop to surface irons, we caught a few each way today. Things are looking really good right now and it is rebounding nicely, come on down and see us we are running these trips everyday.
