red river Fishing Report 2025

This morning we stopped on a school of yellowfin that was smaller than some schools that we have caught 200 off of. This afternoon there was 30-80 lb bluefin in every direction we looked. Both species were a little reluctant to bite. 31 yellowfin tuna,8 yellowtail,1 bluefin tuna.

Good afternoon Sports fans from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. So this will be our last travel day report. Starting tomorrow, it'll be test time for the OTR crew, time to let them apply what they've learned in all of our seminars. This morning after breakfast, we gave our final seminar. Tuned the guys up on stand-up fishing, both harness style and using the rail. We also talked about various different styles of kite rigs. There isn't much more we can say, now it's time for hands on and see who payed attention in class.  The rest of the day is just going to be spent fine tuning all of the gear, tightening up any loose ends and getting a good night sleep because tomorrow is game time! Hello Supreme fans. We have finally hit our stride and started fishing.Unfortunately it happened to be right in the midst of some extremely tough fishing. Our first trip of the year was an Open party three day trip. We spent the three day searching the ocean for biting tuna as well as some inshore action. The tuna fishing was really slow but full of lots of spots of fish, and they were BIG. Bluefin well into the 150 lb class were around but not biting. We chipped away at some inshore fish and were able to put together a nice catch of quality Reds and Lingcod from the bottom. However the star of the show was hands down the jackpot fish. A 130lb Bluefin Tuna, a hard earned fish that ended in victory! These fish were big and did not make it easy to hook them or land them. Their size, abrasive teeth, and unwillingness to bite created quite the challenge.We did managed to hook 5 fish and only landed one. We are out on a two day after Independence day. Wish us Luck!  Remember yesterday I was talking about plans? Well if you read my first report of the trip I talked about dragging our feet a day and waiting for the weather to get pristine out at the Rocks. That was the master plan and well, it worked out. Today we had great weather to go along with our great wahoo fishing. We arrived to the grounds at 7:30 and we were getting steady jig strikes on wahoo to go along with jigging and baiting until about 5:30 when things around here went to bed. I really wanted 4 more wahoo for the magic number but we tried and tried and we gave up. The fish went to bed so we will too. We're now sitting on anchor getting ready to enjoy a nice sunset before eating a nice dinner. Like I said , the weather couldn't be better. We'll have a great nights sleep. We're going to try this again in the morning and take it from there. It's the last day we ever get in August of 2014 and I'm glad we spent it here.

14 yellowfin tuna and 5 bluefin tuna. Once again, unbelievable amount of tuna in our zone. Most of the fish are strung out on tiny chovies making them very difficult to hook. A dedicated flyliner with 25 lb has a chance at a yellowfin. A dedicated flatfall or sinker rig fisherman with 50 lb has a chance at a bluefin.

Hello everyone, Last night was awesome for Yellowfin tuna, the guys stayed up most of the night into the early hours of the morning catching these good grade tuna. When daylight came we did not have the same luck on the tuna. However we did manage to land some Wahoo. Hopefully tonight we have a similar experience with the tuna. Wish us luck, Team Supreme
