Friday, July 26th, 2013

Hi friends. Tough day out here for us on the local Bluefin grounds. The weather gave us fits all day but we did manage to get a few handfuls of Bluefin this morning and a few off of a kelp later in the day. There's not too much to say about what happened today. The weather made things rather sporty but we gave it our all and are happy that we at least had a few stops to show for our efforts. The gang hung tough and we appreciate that from them. They definitely treated the last day like the first.

At around 18:00 hours, we had to call it a trip and begin our end of the trip chores. Chef Shawn just kicked out the Fillet Mignon and crab cakes, Tommy put the slide show on the 50" flat screen, and we enjoyed our final dinner together. Paul's group is always a pleasure to fish/dine/chat with and we had a ball once again. We'd like to say thanks to Paul and company for being the bomb.

Anyhow, our ride is decent as we travel up towards home. We'll be into the docks at 06:00 hours and the guys will be turning around for another 5-day adventure. Look for Drew's reports to be sent out tomorrow evening. Take care.

July 30

It wasn't a float day today. We had some action spread out through the day though. We got about 3 a round on the elusive Bluefins and did plenty of pulling and tugging on yellow tails. The weather was once again spectacular and we're expecting some pretty good weather tomorrow as well. Not as perfect as the last couple of days but still good. We'll be doing this again tomorrow and if the bf's stay on the same schedule it should be a float day. We'll see and you'll read. See you then.

San Diego had a great day offshore. 25 Mexican limits on Yellowtail and 2 Dorado. Weather and fishing is great. They have extended there offshore season through next week Monday. Call now to get in on this great fall fishing. 619-224-3383

Hello Everyone, We just returned from our annual Steele 5 day charter. Hosted of course by the one and only Archie Steele. Two things come to mind when this trip rolls around, central valley anglers that love to put fish on the boat and a whole slew of summer produce that we don't normally get our hands on. Yellow Peaches and Asparagus aside we rolled into the yellowtail zone bright and early. There was good sign there and we began fishing. To our pleasant surprise we began landing beautiful 15-20lb yellowfin tuna! A welcome sight, especially because the average size recently was on the smaller side. As we settled in the Yellows got on us pretty good. Helping get the rust off for most of these anglers. Around late morning our current died and we went into a sort of midday lul. We were still able to hang a fish every now and then but not like before. Thankfully it did fire up again around 330, and this time it was hot and heavy. Very steady yellow tail action, had one going the whole time with flurries of 5-7 at a time. All large 20-28lb beautiful yellowtail. Couldn't ask for a better average! We spent the latter part of the trip trying to top off our yellowtail counts and also catch a few exotics. We spent the day searching high and low for Yellows and Dorado. Never got the boomer hit that we were hoping for but we were able to scratch up a handful of Dorado and some more great sized yellowtail. That concluded our five day adventure. Good fishing on great sized Yellowfin tuna, Yellowtail, and Dorado. A great variety trip that kept us on our feet the whole time. The water at the Coronado Islands has gotten cold and dirty. We have spent the last 2 days enjoying some excellent bottom fishing in 200-400 ft of water. We are keeping tabs on everything in our range. For all you bottom fishing lovers. Come out soon. Conditions are changing fast and as soon as we feel there is a good chance of consistently catching gamefish. The rockfish will go on the back burner again.

Today we loaded up for our annual AHI charter. We are headed south with Wahoo and Tuna in our sights. Tomorrow will be a rigging day.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an update from the San Diego. Today Captain Cameron ran the boat. We had 32 anglers catch 97 Yellowtail. We also had some Barracuda and Bonito. We have are having great weather today and in the near future.
