oyster bay tackle Fishing Report 2024

Incredible amount of fish in our range right now. We see bluefin from big to too big. Yellowfin tuna from 5-25 lbs. open water yellowtail from 8-15 lbs. most of the fish are slurping small anchovies on the surface and do not bite. We did manage to land 7 bluefin from 30-75 lbs and 4 bonito.

Ryan Bostian checked in with a report from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we had 15 anglers catch 9 Bluefin Tuna (60-80 lbs) 1 Yellowfin Tuna (25 lbs). Capt Cameron and the boys had a fine day.

Hello everyone, We had a fantastic day of fishing today. Great Bluefin tuna fishing. The fish were 20-40 lbs, and were biting extremely well. Great action from sunrise until 3 pm. Hopefully we have similar action tomorrow. We will be targeting Bluefin as well as Yellowtail. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-24-2016 As reported yesterday it was a very tough day fishing. We spent the whole day stopping on spot after spot after spot. It got to a point where I thought maybe the passengers didn't think we were really seen fish. One of the things we noticed was where the yellowfin tuna was hanging out, even though it didn't bite It Turns out it was good Intel for today. It did pay off this morning, we ended up shutting down right at daylight on a really nice school that stuck with this until after lunchtime. The grade of fish was 35 to 80 pounds. We hung with it for about another two hours and it just wouldn't bite. After about three hours of searching we finally found where the fish had moved to while we were drifting all morning. We were rewarded with another afternoon bite equal to what we caught in the morning we ended up with a fantastic day of quality, I say quality yellowfin tuna. We also had in the mix by half a dozen nice grade bluefin tuna. We are heading in and going to drop off our Joe Beck charter and pick up Beverly and her group. July 25
    A little bit of a slower day out here for us.
    
      We started our morning off all alone where we saw a few big schools late afternoon yesterday figuring we'd for sure be in them.  Un touched schools didn't make them bite any better.  We fished and caught a few in the same zoneish that we've been fishing before looking elsewhere for something fresh.  We ended right back where we'd been and saw the same thing.  Big schools that don't bite well.  We managed a few more of the 60-80 pound grade and a few handfuls of the 25-40 pound grade and some more 18-25 pound yellowfin before it got dark on us.  The weather all day was nice and we're headed back in now with fillet mignon coming up shortly. I hope I made this trip sound fun because that's what it was.  We were drifting 75 percent of the time with a chance any second for a bite. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-20-2019 The Polaris Supreme arrived nice and early yesterday with the AHI Charter unloading a beautiful catch from down south plenty of Wahoo beautiful grade Tuna and Dorado! We were able to get out nice and early on our eight day open party trip with a fun group of regulars. Our traveling down was good yesterday as well as it is today. Of course the usual seminar on tackle and technique with a lot of rigging napping and eating some good food is going down today. Because of our early departure and making good speed we should be into the fishing grounds at a good hour tomorrow. Things sound a little scratchy at the moment but it looks like it has good potential for improvement. That's all for now we will check in with you tomorrow after hopefully a good day of fishing. 14 bluefin 9 yellowfin 1 yellowtail 1 bonito. Saw enough fish to get a big hit but unfortunately they were not in the mood today. We did see more plus sized models in the mix. We recommend 40lb-60lb line for all techniques.

 There really isn't much to report today.. We didn't fish.  We traveled all day.  We chose to fish later last night in the windless lee of Cedros catching yellows, tuna, and seabass instead of going offshore in the wind/swell and most likely catching nothing or small tuna.  I think we made the right choice.  We had a bit of a bumpy ride last night, or so I'm told.  As usual I slept through it.  We were almost to the coast when I woke up for my watch, so things were a lot smoother.  So today we slept in and had a late breakfast of biscuits and gravy.  The crew got our scrub on while the customers read, hung out and played poker.  After lunch, on cue, most of the boat took a nice nap.  Now dinner is at it's end and my watch is almost over and I'm ready for bed.

 We'll be arriving tomorrow at 6:00 in the morning.  We should have a fairly quick turn around and we'll be back out again, this time for 4.  I'll be taking her out and I'm not sure where we'll go yet.  Fishing right now is at that stage where things need to and will change very soon.  We just hope we're in the right place when they do.
