RECENT NEWS!!! I WILL BE PUTTING SOME MORE OPEN PARTY TRIPS ON THE APOLLO. These trips will be limited to only 20 people. Can you imagine a boat like the Apollo with only 20 people or less every day. I will be running Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th. I'll be fishing the northern Channel Islands for rock fish, lingcod and potentially Sea Bass and Halibut. Good Evening everyone, Today we woke up anchored in the yellowtail grounds. Things started off slow with a couple fish being brought in on the dropper loop and yo yo iron. Most of the fish caught in the morning were nice sized yellowtail in the 20-30lb range with a couple of really nice sheep head and assorted rock fish in the mix. As the morning went on, the yellows moved up in the water column and started to bite the fly lined sardine and the surface iron. The fish were coming around in flurries with a handful of anglers hooking up at a time. We picked at the yellows for a couple of hours before making a short move. We started off catching some smaller grade yellows before the big ones moved in. Before long the fish started boiling around the boat, and started to bite. We continued to put fish on the boat all afternoon into the evening before the bite slowed down. Most of the guys had success on fly lined sardines with 30 or 40 lb test and a 1/0 or 2/0 hook. When the bite had stopped we sat on the anchor for the night and enjoyed a nice dinner courtesy of chef Mike. We will be fishing the same area tomorrow, and will be hoping for a similar outcome as today before trying our luck for the yellowfin once again. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

 "Just what the doctor ordered".  We had a great afternoon out here on the Polaris Supreme today.  It was a slow morning but a strong afternoon.  We started where we had to.  For one we were there at sunrise and for two we had to keep it honest due to the previous good fishing there several days ago.  It wasn't happening so we took off and arrived to the promise land after lunch.  It started off with a wahoo strike that turned into a wide open tuna bite with wahoo mixed in too.  We ended that drift with 14 skin and 60+ tuna.  Action baby.  Just what we needed after yesterday.  After that we were in full wahoo mode but they were hanging with the tuna so while we would catch wahoo we"d catch tuna too.  The perfect scenario until you have limits of tuna.  We're not quite there yet but we're close.  We opted to stay another day to finish off our tuna quota and see if we can get some more wahoo.  That also gives the Rocks another days rest as well.

 The wind finally backed off today.  For the past few days we had windy/choppy weather with a current going against it which adds to the choppiness and makes anchor fishing uncomfty.  We handled it those days but today it was just nice.  We're all stoked.  Like I said, "just what the doctor ordered".
        

Happy July 4th everyone.
    We started our morning off doing some bluefin watching.  It's like whale watching but instead of whales you watch bluefin.  In other words they didn't bite.  We got on one spot and they were practically smacking the side of the boat they were so close but they wanted nothing to do with us.  After a little bit of that and a kelp for some yellows and our first dorado of the year we started getting strikes on yellowfin.  It was pretty steady for 1 1/2 hours then shut down for 1 1/2 hours then started up again for 1 hour then went completely dead.  We went west because west is best.  After lunch things got interesting.  We started to see big schools of yellowfin and it didn't stop until dark.  As my grandma would say, "holy Toledo!".  Unfortunately they were not biting fish.  We would get stops for 2,1,1,2,4,1,1,2,2,3,3,3,1,2, like that.  But we stayed busy and worked  hard at it and scratched out a nice catch.  We had 40 tuna stops and averaged 2 per stop.  Now thats scratching.

    The weather was incredible.  As my grandma would say, "holy Toledo!".  Variable winds all day.  That means there wasn't enough wind to measure.  I think that's what it means anyway.  We're headed back in and will be docking at 7:15 in the am and we will be turning around on a 6 day.  I'll be your captain.  See you then.
                                

 

Had an insane stop on Long range size Yellowfin. 3 hours later we ended up with 11 fish. Lost as many. Had 7 going at once, for our 6 anglers! Good stuff

Captain Ryan called in late last night to report fantastic fishing conditions on the Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. The fishing were biting live bait. Ryan recommends 25 pound mono with a flurocarbon leader. The fishing are in the 20 to 25 pound class. They were biting really good. Come on down and fish on the San Diego. Aug. 22
    We finished up our trip today hunting bluefin.  They weren't very friendly today.  In fact they were down right mean.  We saw a tremendous amount of fish today but very few would bite our lines.  All day long we were stopping on schools and we have 22 fish to show for it.  All of them were nice ones with the biggest going about 60 pounds.  !st and 2nd will be easy, figuring out 3rd place in the jackpot may take a while.  Alot of 45 pounders to weigh I think.

    We're headed in.  Tommy's taking the next one out, and I'll be on board.
