 Arrive/depart.  A quick one too.  We were out before 9:30.  We got our bait and we were gone.  We started fishing after lunch.  We had one little area that was loaded up with 5 pound skipjack.  We stopped a few times to let everyone pull and jerk on something and practice following there fish around the boat and stuff.  We had a couple kelps with a few small yellows we caught.  We unfortunately made it to our destination before dark.  I say unfortunately because we were hoping to bump into something sooner.  We saw only a few little dabs of tuna while we had light.  I mean just a few fish, and they didn't bite.  We're currently anchored in the cove here and we're enjoying a nice prime rib dinner and I think we'll sleep well tonight.

 It sounded like it was a better day around here.  Not just catching wise but fishing too.  Never thought I'd say that but what I mean is there was a bigger spread of fish seen today.  They weren't all seen in the same honey hole like most of last week.  We have high hopes for tomorrow.  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going on break.
      

Hello Everyone, Today we targeted yellowtail.Unfortunately there was no current. The lack of current made fishing difficult. We did manage to pick off a couple of Yellowfin tuna and a few Dorado. In addition to that we caught some nice Lingcod and Rockfish in the meantime. We will spend our last day trying for that school grade bluefin. Wish us luck! Team Supreme

Good evening Polaris Supreme family. Today was our first full day of fishing at the tuna grounds. We got here about 0800 and went straight into wahoo mode. The skinny's didn't wait too long to show themselves. Getting a troll fish here and there, they sure seemed to like the live bait when we stopped on the jig strikes. Things change from day to day, wherther it be bait, bombs raiders...this morning, live sardines looked to be the bait of choice. After tagging a few dozen of the toothy critters, we got anchored up and went into big tuna mode. Kites out, lines in the water, time to try and chum up the big boys. It wasn't too long before Chuck hooked into something real nice. On his first long trip, he wound up putting a 145 on the deck for a new personal best. The afternoon showed to be pretty slow which can be pretty typical. The guys fished hard though. Eventually the sharks got on us, but not too bad. Could be a lot worse. We hooked a couple more throughout the afternoon and lost them, but that's why they call it fishing, not catching. After snack time, Bill hooked into a cow that took him into sundown that he ended up losing right at color. That's just part of the game though, and we have many more days of fishing time. Shake it off and tomorrow is a new day. The guys all hit the rack right after Chef Mike's amazing veal chop dinner to recharge the batteries because 0400 is going to be coming pretty early. Good evening everyone. We raced down throughout the night and into the morning time to arrive to our desired location in the late morning. It took us a while to get things figured out and at around 1030 hours, we saw them, stopped the boat, and like a light-switch (get it San Diego?), things lit up and the corner came alive. Bluefin tuna rushed the stern getting so close that Jed was mere inches from free-gaffing one. They were as hungry as we've ever seen Bluefin and for the short time frame that the fish popped up, we took full advantage of it as our group did work on the Bluefin, a few handfuls of Yellowfin, and a Dorado. For a while there, the whole boat was bent over on tuna. Every bait on the corner resulted in a tuna, easy fishing. We picked away at them one, two at a time after our rush until things dried up, and that was pretty much our day as we drove around trying to locate something fresh. The fish seemed to get lock-jaw towards the end of the day for us but we were still beaming about our mid-morning stop. Other boats in the area had the same type of deals, some more than others, but all in all, it was a good day down here at the trusty Bluefin/Yellowfin grounds. No shortage of fish around here, that is for certain.

So we're headed up the line in nice weather. A little bit of swell but the wind that slapped us in the faces this morning has vanished. Hardly a white-cap out here, beautiful weather and the forecast shows more of the same coming up for out 2 day trip leaving tomorrow afternoon. There are a couple spots still open so call Susan at (619) 390-7890 to book a spot. We'll be departing at 1:00 pm, traveling all day and night to the tuna grounds to arrive in the very early morning hours, fish all day until dark, and then arrive the next morning. The general opinion on this fish is that they will float this evening so we'll have a full day down here to get them located. We're excited about the prospects so give Susan a call ASAP. We'll arrive to the docks tomorrow morning around 0800 hours. Take care.

Thanks for the amazing response to the OPEN Shimano Charters we scheduled for the Channel Islands this spring. The response was so positive that I spoke with the folks at Shimano and they agreed to put another trip on line. This one will be set for fishing on March 13. That would be departing at 9pm on the night of the 12th. This trip will be just like the others. Shimano will provide a bunch of outfits for fishing butterfly and lucanus systems. Good morning everyone! Still battling some very very rough seas! We should be into Ensenada on time this afternoon and definitely will not be doing any fishing today. Looking forward to getting out of this weather probably by 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock this afternoon. It looks like the next trip Vernon's guys will have a nice ride down to Guadalupe on their five day. Nothing to do today but breakdown tackle and do a few boat projects.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report from the Tribute. "We had a little bit of the choppy weather hear today. We have a little over 50 mixed fish. So far we have caught some Dorado with Bluefin mixed in. We still have plenty of daylight left and we're hoping to pull in some more Bluefin. We'll keep you posted as the day progresses.
