newburyport Fishing Report 2025

We had some good fishing on the yellows today around 12-18 pounds with some at 25 lbs. We released 100's of smaller ones.

There was plenty of action. The guys are having a great time. Our weather is ok not great, not bad. There is a little bit better sign of albacore. They are improving from what it has been recently. We will fish the yellowtail again tomorrow and save the last couple of days for tuna fishing. For dinner we had turkey breast with sausage bread stuffing and a sage wine sauce. So goodnight and wish us good luck for tomorrow!

Drove out to the honey hole and immediately saw fish. After drifting for a couple hours it became obvious that today was a different day. We had plenty of tuna around us but unfortunately they never reached the aggression level we wanted. We ended with 24 yellowfin tuna.

It was a nice warm sunny day traveling today. There is still a pretty good swell with a wind wave on top of it, but it has swung behind us and our ride is great. The guys spent the day relaxing except for George and Craig who spent the afternoon doing laps around the deck and push-ups. They probably felt they needed to work off all the home cooking we have been eating today. Huevos Rancheros for breakfast, chicken fried steak for lunch and dinner, beef stroganoff. Of course sashimi for hors d'voures. Twenty four more hours to go. See you tomorrow.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-03-2016 Today we started our first full day of fishing on our annual Hampton four day. We started the morning fishing the beach in search of Yellowtail. Conditions were tough and we opted to head off shore and search the warm blue waters for a nice kelp or a biting school of tuna. We managed to find some nice kelps, with little on them. We managed to some playground grade Yellows and Dorado, but fortunately for them they were all thrown back so we may be able to catch them next year. However we did catch a few adults among the babies, they were a welcome addition to our frigid RSW fish hold. Over all a tough day with fish few and far between. We are making a move south tonight to put us in position for tuna and yellowtail fishing tomorrow morning. Wish us luck, The Supreme Team

Today we had some decent Tuna and Wahoo fishing. It was for sure a grind but we were able to capitalize on a few shots on both Tuna and Wahoo. The Wahoo were good grade and really keyed in on the mackerel we caught last night. So it was as good thing we put in the work in to catch them! The shot at tuna yielded a great grade of fish . 20-40 lbers. The only downside is that they quit biting when the current died. Tomorrow we will try for wahoo and Dorado on kelps wish us luck ! Well we started in some traditionally tasty grounds today. The weather was magnificent and so was the water we were in. Warm and a beautiful glassy blue. It was also lively as could be. There were birds buzzing around all over, little dabs of dolphin, big herds of dolphin that were "all birded up"(that's code for "looks right"), a dead animal floating,(known for holding lots of dorado),kelp paddies and floating fishing gear buoys(also known for holding mucho dorado and wahoo). Well none of it was holding !@#$. I'm just bummed about it too. We had this area all to ourselves for 3 days in early September with beautiful weather and fishing conditions and it stunk. I can't sugar coat it. We covered a lot of good looking spots for not much fish. It just wasn't there. If I had a time machine I would go back 5 days ago and do it all over again. We would start above and fish our way down instead of starting below and fishing our way north. At least then my stress level wouldn't be high because we'd have fish in our holds. Fishing would be so easy with a time machine. Maybe I shouldn't write such downer reports but my friend Rob on board says he enjoys reading the good with the bad and you know what, this sort of thing happens. Fishing can be good and it can be bad. Oh well but hey, our trip is only half over, we're going to catch a bunch of yellows tomorrow, get some bait, maybe catch some more yellows and some more bait then go and whip on the tuna. Right? I hope so.
