montezuma slough Fishing Report 2025

Excellent, excellent fishing on 70-170 lb tuna until about 1pm. Most all of the fish were released. We looked hard late in the afternoon, but a front came up and the weather got rough. One more day for us, wish us luck.

April 17 & 18, 2013

Wednesday (the 17th) we had 10-11 Tuna in the 110-197 lb range and 12 wahoo. This morning we so far we have 8 tuna in the same range as yesterday, and 2 wahoo. Conditions are still good and we are having fun with the kite fishing. Yesterday we had some wind, and today's forecast is to be more, but so far we are having good weather. Hope it keeps up.

The Polaris Supreme Crew

We departed today on Eric Rogger's annual ultra light load (19 passengers) 5-day trip. Eric always puts together a great group of anglers and this year is no exception. We have a couple of father daughter, father son pairs. This year we have had a few of trips go out with multi generations fishing together and as well as having a great time fishing, they are building great memories together. So we are on the hunt for fish. Our weather is ok. Not flat calm, but it is ok. Tonight chef Jeff pleased everyone with a delicious rack of lamb, with a honey mustard glaze on the side. Captain Ryan Bostian called in today to let everyone know that they will be changing focus from the offshore grounds back to the Coronado Islands. The last week the offshore bite has slowed down while the Yellowtail fishing at Coronado Islands has picked up. Please be sure to bring all your Yellowtail gear. We are starting these trip tomorrow.

Captain Tucker McCombs checked in this morning from the Endeavor out of Hook's Landing in Oxnard, CA. We got em again! Limits of White Seabass and a Halibut too! The Endeavor is online for White Seabass fishing again departing tonight.

 The big ones are hitting good today! 60-80 pounders! Some creeping over the 100 pound mark! Got to love it! We sure are! 

Today we started our Thorne family four day trip. Most of the fishing seems to be slightly out of our reach today. However we were able to pull on some fish. Mostly Skip Jack and small Yellowtail. Not necessarily the targeted species but great fun for the kids as well as a good starter for the adults.Nothing is better practice for following your lines than a school of wild Skipjack! Here we have Kingston and Justine with the perfect starter fish to get the skunk off and release back into the ocean. Now we are ready for tomorrow. Targeting Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado .

The Apollo went out with 21 Anglers and they caught 41 Halibut and 4 White Seabass. The Halibut ran from 15 to 40 lbs.
