Today we had about 7-10 wahoo and several tuna. Four nice ones around 170 lbs., and some smaller ones (many released) 50-60 lbs. We lost 4 nice ones, 2 thought to be over 200 lbs. The guys are pretty tired putting in 36 hours of fishing time. Most only had 3-4 hours of sleep.

Hello Everyone Today fishing was slow. We spent the day offshore looking around for any warm water fish that wanted to play. Unfortunately we only were able to land a few small Yellowfin Tuna. On the bright side we have superstar pizza chef Joe Gigliotti aboard and today. He decided to grace us with his pizza talent. He whipped up more pizzas than you could shake a stick at with so many topping combinations that it would make the Poppa Johns R and D department have to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to even have a chance of keeping up. It truly seemed like the endless lunch, always finding room for one more slice, and another and another. Fishing was slow but the pizzas were coming in HOT and often! 21 pass. 88 yellowtail 2 bonito. Tomorrow’s trip has been cancelled due to weather. Wind is forecasted till Wednesday. Nice weather starts on Thursday.

Mike Pritchard called in this morning with this report for the Tribute. "We've had a very nice start here this moring. A couple of kelps have been absolutely fantastic. Great Yellowtail fishing to go along with some Yellowfin and Dorado. We caught 160 Yellowtail out of 2 drifts. A lot of the fish were caught on surface irons, swimbait and even poppers.

"We are now targeting some tuna or maybe some Dorado. We'll keep you informed."

The old adage “I’d rather be lucky than good” was the story for us today. Before we even fired up the Binos our autopilot found us a kelp patty that kicked out 66 yellowtail (12-25lbs). After our kelp the weather kicked up substantially making it very difficult to work. We did however see some tuna but did not get a bite. A 40 lb flyline setup was the best today.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-15-2016 We started off the morning with a few strikes on sonar schools of yellowfin tuna. We thought we were on the right track but things soon slowed down to virtually nothing. A few of the guys were seeing schools up above us, big schools but weren't producing much more then we where. We went and check those out and it looks like there schools of bluefin with a little bit of yellowfin mixed in it of course the bluefin don't bite. We spent part of our morning looking at eight giant kelp patties for two bites on yellowtail which we lost. Right now it's about 2:10 we have 20 yellowfin on board and were wondering where in the heck they're all at. We have good weather and six more hours to look wish us luck. The Polaris supreme crew

Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day targeting the larger Tuna, Yellowtail, Wahoo, and Grouper. We were able to pick the 20-30 lb Yellowfin Tuna for most of the day. There was also some nicer Yellowtail caught on occasion as well. We caught a few Wahoo, but the volume was not around today like we wanted. We are headed up in hopes of big Yellowtail tomorrow. Oct. 8

We all slept in today as it was our first day off from fishing in a week. We had a later breakfast of pork chop, bacon, eggs and hash browns. After that we broke down and cleaned all of our big tuna gear and put away the harnesses and the terminal tackle and things. Then the crew scrubbed the boat to a nice shiny color while the passengers watched a movie or two. Then we ate cheeseburgers and they were great. And after that it was nap time. So we're all rested and we have a clean boat. We still have a little bit of live sardine left over and some time to use them so we'll be rolling by some fishable waters the next few days and if we see something we'll be able to stop and give it a try whether it be wahoo the next couple of days or bluefin the day before we get back to San Diego. The weather today was as good as you could ever ask for. Flat calm seas and the sun was shining. Lovely. Dinner was wahoo enchiladas and that's all we have to report.
