Hello Everyone, Today we had a great day of fishing on 20-40 lb Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna. With a few 70 lbers mixed in. The style is awesome, long drifts keeping 1-4 going for hours at a time. We are loving the grade of the fish and that they are biting consistently. We are in tomorrow and leave on an 8 day. It will be nice fishing south for a nice change of scenery.  Remember yesterday when I said we would find our dorado kelp?  Well we conquered that quest.  I tell no lies.  An hour or so after breakfast, maybe 2, we found a kelp loaded and we went to battle and overall I think we won.  I mean we caught exactly what we wanted.  Beautiful mahi mahi.  After that we went back to travel mode and we'll be arriving to our slip in San Diego tomorrow at 0800 hours.  We ate some of that mahi for dinner tonight while we watched a slide show of all the pictures taken this trip presented to us by Tommy.  Everyone misses there wives and they all told me, "Drew, I couldn't spend another minute without my wife".  That's why this trip was 15 days.  It's the maximum amount of time we can spend without our wives.

 So we tie up tomorrow and that's the way we'll stay until November 9th, when we'll be departing on a 10 day trip.  So until then, I'd just like to say how much I'll miss writing to you all.  Stay classy and thanks for stopping by, but mostly, stay classy.
         

Tommy Rothery returned Polaris Supreme to Fisherman's Landing November 18 after a ten-day Ocean Tackle Research charter. The boat had 13 anglers aboard. Chartermaster Lon Mikkelsen of Hood River, OR saw his father, Bill Mikkelsen of Olympia, WA land the season's first super cow; a tuna over 300 pounds. "It was full-speed fishing," said Chartermaster Lon Mikkelsen.

Bill Mikkelsen's big fish won first place after it weighed in at 308.8-pounds, caught on a fly-lined sardine. Bill used the boat's gear, including a 6/0 Mustad 7691 hook, 100-pound P-Line, and a Shimano rod and reel. "Tommy said it was tail-wrapped from the beginning," said the elder Mikkelsen. "And he was, but he got lose and went on another run. He took me around the boat twice."

Good evening everyone, Today we did some inshore fishing. Conditions were not favorable, not a lot of current left the fish very unwilling. However were able to scratch together a day of nice rockfish, Sheepshead, and a variety of other fish. Including the inshore trifectra: Yellowtail, Halibut, and White Seabass! A nice day to get out of the weather! We are headed back down to try for big bluefin tomorrow! Wish us luck, Team Supreme

 Well, our best fishing today came from the zone where all of our offshore fishing has been this year.  No surprise there.  I wish we would have stayed in that zone longer, but for the past week, anyone on there last day of there trip has been complaining about there speed going up.  "Oh it's soo slow", "we're driving through mud", "make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time", etcetera, etcetera.  So we planned on that.  We fished with our watch today.  But that never happened.  We never did slow down.  Unfortunately, by planning on it, it put us in this years desert zone.  The zone with no fish.  Beautiful water, no fish.  But things have to change right?  Right.  Just not today.  Oh well.  At least our first 2 days were good ones.  Oh, and the weather was good.  That always helps.

 We'll be in tomorrow and Tommy will be coming back out for 5.  I'm going home.  What will I do?  Spend every minute with my beautiful daughter except for the 4 1/2 hours spent on the golf course.  I will miss writing to you folks though.  I enjoy telling you what's on my mind.  I sugar coat nothing.  See you all in 5 days.
     

We cleared the point today at 1:00 in the afternoon with a full load of bait and a load of anxious anglers. After a short tackle seminar we are still rolling down in good looking absolutely flat calm gorgeous weather. We got the trolling jigs out and the sonar running keeping the area honest. We're planning on being offshore in the morning looking for yellowfin, bluefin, dorado, and that good grade yellowtail under kelps.

 We're going to go ahead and chalk this one up as a travel day.  That's pretty much what we did today.  Starting last night.  And it was a rough one.  As soon as we got a couple hours northeast of the stones things got a bit windy and the boat started to rock.  Not good sleeping weather.  We got through it though.  Even Chef Mike got breakfast out without too much whining this morning.  Things started to smooth out a couple of hours prior to arriving to our fishing hole.  Our fishing hole didn't prove to be very productive though.  So we traveled up.  That's something you have to do on these longer trips when you fish the Rocks or the Ridge.  It's a long way down there.  So we caught a few wahoo on our travel day.

 Unfortunately the weather picked back up this afternoon and we've been scooping waves over the house steady since 3:00 or so.  Right now I turned it down swell for dinner because we have a couple hours to kill.  We're going to head back up to our tuna/wahoo honey hole from the beginning of the trip and hope for good weather.  Just two days left to fish on this trip.
