Another amazing day at the Coronado Islands. Our 53 anglers caught all the yellowtail they wanted on live bait and small yo-yo jigs.

Hello everyone, Today we started out our six day trip locally. There was excellent sign of 20-30lb Yellowfin tuna. However they did not cooperate that well. We are headed west in search of larger Bluefin. Wish us Luck, Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme returned from the Catchy Tackle open trip with 20 anglers on September 9. The boat docked under skipper Drew Henderson's hand at Fisherman's Landing after visiting Guadalupe, Alijos Rocks and The Ridge. "Gave it the full check today," wrote Drew September 4. "We only got a couple wahoo but it was great action on 20 to 30-pound yellows on the dropper loop and yo-yo iron. Anyone who fly lined a bait could expect to get a dorado; they were from 15 to 40 pound fish. Most were too busy with the yellows." Small tuna were a problem at times, said Henderson. Some nice pink pargo were encountered at Thetis Bank. Paul Adams of Cardiff won first place, for a 73-pound yellowfin. He said he caught that on eon a sardine, 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, 60-pound Ande line, a Penn 30 W reel and a Calstar 655 H rod. Bill Zemba of Castaic was second, for a 70-pounder, and Tim Williams of San Clemente won third place for a 69.8-pound tuna. Robert Johns of Kearney, MO stood in with his 38-pound dorado for the lineup shot.

Hi friends. Well, the day finally arrived and instead of "to-do" lists and parts lists and repair and restoration work, we have our eyes solely focused on stars, a peaceful ocean and visions of tomorrow that has some unable to sleep properly. I'm thankful to say that we have set sail on our first voyage of the 2012 season with Billy Stephen's and his crew of merry lads - young and old alike. Everyone is excited to see what tomorrow brings as we will be targeting Bluefin and Yellowfin tuna and any other offshore foe that wishes to test our hunting skills. We're ready. The blood is pumping and after a hearty feast of prime rib, we're sending everybody down to the rooms to rest up for a long day tomorrow. We'll be up at 0530 and when the sun finally sets at around 2030 hours (summer days seem to never quit), we'll report back to you on our scores and accomplishments and hopefully, they are as bountiful and endless as our fantastic traveling weather that we enjoyed today.

We're back. We've got some old salts on here that know a thing or two about fishing, a crew with hands that are far too gunked up with grease, paint dust and other souvenirs of a lengthy boatwork and some young guns to boot. First trip of the year is an exciting one indeed and we'll see how things play out tomorrow and we'll report back to you at the completion of our day.

P.S. To all of our lovely ladies back on land who are so gracious to let us go fishing for days and days on end. First of all, hello. How are all of you this fine evening? Good, we miss you too. Now, to all the mothers; the kids are all tucked away in bed and to say they are pumped is an understatement. Everyone is in good spirits and the men are doing a noble job of teaching them to harnessing that energy, get some rest and hit the deck early tomorrow morning. It's all good. Good night now.

Oct. 11

Today wasn't the trip saver. Nope, that'll have to be tomorrow. There was a signal of that big yellowfin in the morning. We had a stop for a few 45-50 pounders and some jigging on the smaller yellowfin thats been around. We also had some of those late as well. The highlight of the day as would be the highlight on most any day of any trip was just before lunch time we found a beefer(that means about as big as they get)beefer school of big bluefin. We hooked about 10 or 12 of those beasts and landed 5, 75 pounds to over a 100 pounds. There were a few other schools seen today, a school of 40-60 pounders, and a school of 25-35 pounders so along with the beautiful weather we have high hopes for tomorrow.

Oct. 11

Polaris Supreme is back on line. Good evening folks. We had one of those very rare incidents happen out here that we just dread happening. A passenger took a fall on deck and broke his femur bone during the second night of the trip. Our only option was to bring him back to San Diego so that we could get him to a hospital so he could get the care that he needed. Unfortunately we were 250+ miles south when it happened and it cost us a couple days of our trip getting him back home. When I say rare incidents I mean that it's the first and hopefully last time I have seen it happen in my 12 year career on the Polaris Supreme. We safely got him off the boat yesterday afternoon and headed back out with 2 days in the trip now to get things done. Get well Bob. All of our thoughts are with you. We are now a blue fin boat. The weather has come down beautifully and with signs of blue fin yesterday up to 70 pounds we're excited to get our day going. Just waiting for the sun to rise as I'm writing this. Wish us luck. Captain Jodie Morgan called in with a wrap up from their recent 2 day trip last night. We had 75 Bluefin Tuna (in the 30 to 40 pound class), 63 Yellowtail, and a Dorado. We have a 2.5 day trip departing Sunday night with open spots. The trip is $625 and includes your meals and permits. Call Fisherman's Landing at (619) 221-8500 to get in on the action.

Long Drive Big Reward! Today we had a great day of fishing. We had quite the variety today, and they were all great grade! We had a few big Dorado on a jumbo kelp, and when we finally got settled in we were able to catch some great grade Yellowtail and Yellowfin tuna! We will try another spot tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Hello everyone, Today we are supremely sore from pulling on fish. The morning was spent catching a handful of Wahoo, some Grouper, and a bunch of Yellowfin Tuna. When the afternoon rolled around we went looking for Dorado, and found them. It was a excellent grade, and everyone caught as much as they wanted. Very good fishing.
