    Judging by how our trip has been so far, if you would have told me we would have 6 bluefin as of 1:00 this afternoon I wouldn't have believed you.  But sure enough, those darn bluefins were laughing at us.  We saw plenty of them but they didn't give two you know whats about us.  Our buddy Brian on the Spirit Of Adventure called us and told us he was seeing the 30-50 pound grade around where he was so we took a little ride down there.  It wasn't really biting that well until we got there.  Again our timing is on.  For the next few hours it was game on.  It actually took a while to get them to bite but during the best of it I couldn't get the balloon rigs out fast enough.  They were snapping!!  We ended up with a couple rounds of the 30-50 pounders with one going around 90 pounds and we also got a handful of 30-35 pound yellowfin there as well.  

    After it dried up we went looking for another.  We found several schools but none that would hang around and bite our baits.  Around 6:30 we bumped into another school that stuck and we picked up 21 more of those beauts.  And now we drift and do it again tomorrow.  

    The chefs are getting better and better at there sushi spread.  This afternoon it was terrific and I'm pretty sure I heard it's veal chops for dinner tonight.  Sweet dreams.

Hi friends. Well, here we are. Fingers to the keyboard once again and anyone who knows me, knows that I can't type without jamming out to my Wiz Khalifa! Anyhow, Team Supreme; living the dream, one nautical mile at a time. Yep. Our maintenance period is complete and we are bound for greater points south. Chef Schooler just kicked out the prime rib and all the passengers and crew are fat and happy. With that being said, you know it's our first night back on the boat and we're kicking off our 2013 Summer season with our amigo Archie and his Motley Crue that he's invited along with him. Here we go...

We departed Fisherman's Landing this morning and headed to the bait receivers to load up on some sardines, mackerel, and anchovies. With that, I'd like to say two things: One - I would want no part of being a bait boat skipper right now. No part. Those guys are busting their you-know-whats to load our wells with sardines and it's not easy going right now. Kudos to those men. Two - I've now witnessed a bait-making seminar on a five-day trip. Is this 1992? I feel like I'm a part of history. When the bait loading gets tough, the tough get sabiki rigs. One could moan and groan forever about what we don't have but as Jed and Sweet Georgia Brown like to say "ain't nobody got time for that!" Anyways, we've got an OK load of bait and we'll see how those little critters live in the morning.

We'd like to use said sardines, mackerels, and anchovies on some bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, and yellowtail tomorrow so we'll be in the hot offshore zone seeing if we can't put our bait to good use. I'd like to say a word about the bluefin fishing other than how much I love it: a boat caught a 175 lb. bluefin today and had the same size fish jumping around the boat. Bring the appropriate gear! Don't go elephant hunting with a .22. Bring yourself a two-speed reel and fill that bad boy up with some 50 or 60 lb at least!

Man, I'm all over the place tonight. So, back on track. We're going offshore fishing tomorrow, the weather is lovely, and everyone is pretty lit up right now and ready to pull on something. We'll see what tomorrow brings and we'll report it to you ASAP, you know that.

Before I go, one last bit of nonsense. Jed was attacked by a seal today. It was hilarious. The bait receivers are no joke, they've got this one knothead that has no fear and although I saw no fear in the seals eyes, I saw plenty in Jed's and I laughed. Next thing you know--after Jed nearly trampled me--his  eyes locked with mine and it was on! But, I was laughing so hard at Jed's reaction that I couldn't move and just like that, he vanished. Although we're clear of scars on our bodies, we're emotionally scarred and we're now damaged goods. Hopefully, we can recover and be able to load bait in peace with our friendly pelicans. Anyhow, that was my favorite part of the day and I had to share with everyone. Classic.

Alright, enough of my babble. Mark's driving, Springsteen on the Ipod, and we're talking about the glory days. Mark has a few more glory days under his belt because he's 97 years old but I've got a glory story to tell as well. We're out.

Ryan Bostian called in to give this report on the fishing at Coronado Islands, "In the last 3 days the temperatures have really jumped up on us. We are looking at 64 - 65, even 65.5 in some areas. We have been catching and seeing Yellowtail for the last month and one-half down here now. We started off in La Jolla, now we are down to the Coronado Islands. We have been averaging anywhere from 3 to 48 Yellowtail per trip. We had a nice day last Thursday, we had 48 of them. There are the same amount of fish around, we see some very nice schools. Some days they bite, some days they do not. It has not been easy to catch one but if you do catch one they are very nice sized fish. Most of them are every bit of 20 lbs., we did have a stand out yesterday which was 36 lbs. Very nice Coronado Island Yellowtail fishing.

As far as tackle goes if you came down with a 25 lb. rod and a fly line, a sardine, a little piece of fluorocarbon on the end of your mono and some 2/0 bait hooks you'd be all set to fly line. For those folks that like to fish artificial lures we have takes fish on both the Yo-Yo lures as well as the surface lures. Plenty of targets to throw at for you surface pluggers, if you'd like to come on down please join us aboard the San Diego. We do run every single day, we depart the landing at 5:30 AM, we'll be fishing the Coronado Islands for Yellowtail until something better pops up. Where ever the fish go we will go and right now they are at the Coronado Islands we are having a lot of fun with it. Hope to see you guys on the water."

Polaris Supreme Trip update 11-25-2019 We woke up this morning to a beautiful calm day and a gorgeous sunrise! It looks pretty similar to the sunset we had yesterday. We had some good fishing on small grade yellowtail and a few more tuna for the boys. The Wahoo were definitely absent yesterday and today. Tomorrow that is going to be our main target species. We most likely will be coming in a day early on this trip sometime Friday or Thursday late. We've been watching that storm coming in over Thanksgiving Thursday and then continuing through Friday and we want to avoid getting caught in the middle of it. You can do these kind of things when you have a private charter! Right now the forecast for departing on Saturday looks like excellent weather as far as we can see on the forecast through the fourth of December. Thanks for tuning in! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Good evening. We spent our morning getting the Supreme and her passengers out of the weather for a bit, attempting to locate some coastal species for a morning while we gave the offshore scene a rest. We didn't quite connect like we were hoping but we did manage to catch a few yellowtail for our efforts, so all was not for lost. We made the decision to get back offshore and see what was going on and what was going on was scattered jig strikes on yellowfin tuna with some bait stops to go along with it. There is still some good hits to be had out here on both bluefin and yellowfin but we just didn't locate the right batch of fish. For tomorrow, we'll be fishing a little bit closer to home as we'll give it a try for a few hours and then have to book it for home. Wish us luck and sorry for the short report, the weather traveling up isn't the best conditions for typing but it's still okay to traveling. It could be a lot worse but we don't want that. Hi friends. Flat calm weather, sunshine, and Yellowfin tuna was on our wish-list today and our wishes were granted. It took the fish a little while to wake up this morning but when they showed their faces, we located them and introduced ourselves. We caught fish all sorts of ways today; jumpers, puddlers, breezers, jig strikes, meter marks, sonar marks, and the fishiest birds of all, Tern birds, were helping us locate schools today. We never had a really great stop but we pieced together a lot of good stops and we ended up with a fine catch for our anglers. Throw in some Bluefin and a few nice Dorado for color and you have the recipe for a fantastic day on the water. I honestly feel that with a little less boat pressure, the schools would've been more bountiful but it's hard to find much more to complain about today other than that. Everybody had a shot at a good school and we feel fortunate to be in the zone when they did pop up. It was easy to see them pop up from just about anywhere with the weather we had today. Jock straps and sun visor weather for sure.

So that's all. We're headed up the line and wish to arrive sometime around 0900 hours in the morning. We'll see what kind of speed we make rolling up. Our next report will come to you on Thursday evening as we depart on a 1.5 day trip. Take care.

Good evening folks. We arrived this morning at 0800 hours, unloaded our fish and guests, and departed the docks @ 1300 hours to embark on our 2-day trip. Our bait looks OK, plenty good enough for some offshore fish to accept our offerings. The reports from the area are different. As of 1830, the boats were just now starting to get some jig strikes and see more sign of fish. Nonetheless, we'll be there first thing tomorrow morning to give it a full day and see what we can come up with. The weather here and for most of the coast is absolutely gorgeous, so we like that a lot. We also like that the forecast calls for more of the same. We're hoping the weatherman is correct and the fish pop up here for us tomorrow. Wish us luck and have a great day.
