    Our morning started off hot.  We had some very good tailing for about 1 1/2 hours on the 16-22 pound grade.  We managed to get a few fish per rod in that amount of time frame before things went dead around 8:30.  It's OK, we were expecting that.  We stuck with the plan and looked for yellowfin after that and it wasn't long before we connected.  We had 2 good stops and one great stop on the yellowfin tunas and scattered small stops the rest of the day.  They were a bit on the small side but that's what's around here so we fished them.  After that we drove out of the zone to put ourselves in position for tomorrow and didn't catch much the rest of the day.

    We'll be tailing it again tomorrow looking for the bigguns down below first thing in the morning.  The weather this morning was great.  It got a little windy in the afternoon but it was OK.
                                

 

73 yellowfin tuna 3 skipjack tuna. We were minutes away from bailing on our area after our first 3 schools swam away without biting. The words from my old boss Ed McEwen “never leave fish to find fish” once again proved to be spot on. A cooperative school late in the day made all of our frustration fade away.

Saturday Aug. 4th, 2012
Hello from the bridge of the fabulous  Polaris Supreme.
Fishing for Saturday was another mixed bag out here on the offshore tuna grounds.
Like yesterday, it started out slow, but by mid day we had found our stride and started connecting with those beautiful 35-45 lb yellowfin tuna. We scratched at them all afternoon and by the end of the day, we had put another fantastic day together. We also came upon a nice school of Blufin to cap things off.
The rack of lamb dinned with all the trimmings was a great way to end things. Chef Schooler has been fatting us up nicely.
Weather is still good and knowing the potential for Sunday, well were pretty pumped up!

The Costello Gang returned with a great catch this morning and we provisioned and departed with out a hitch with Tom chaparro's annual 6 day limited trip. Our bait was excellent and we put it right to use on a fantastic afternoon of tuna fishing.It was Realy Good! We are now idling up swell for dinner in good weather and plan on doing more of the same tomorrow.The Polaris Supreme Crew.

 

Yesterday we had a travel day. It was a little bumpy and choppy coming up the line. The passengers just relaxed and enjoyed a fresh tuna sandwich and Ceasar salad for lunch and for dinner we were treated to crab stuffed chicken on rice with a black bean sauce and grilled squash on the side. Really good. This morning we are still traveling and it is still bumpy. It looks like it is nicer up above and we should have a nice afternoon and a few hours of fishing before we have to head in. We will be a the dock at 6:00 am Wednesday morning.
We have a last minute cancellation on our trip that departs tomorrow. It is Don Fischbeck's annual 5 day charter. Give Susan or Don a call if you can get away and come fish.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-30-2016 What we started out our first day fishing with great hopes of success catching yellowtail right off the bat on the anchor. Those dreams ended quickly with only a handful of fish off-color dirty water and really not that much life compared to what we had seen in this area before. Knowing we needed to make tracks heading towards what we hope will be tomorrow's hot tuna grounds we quickly departed for offshore kelp patty fishing the rest of the day. Although we were in excellent water and saw plenty of kelp's we had no success. Beautiful weather fun group of guys no fish. That pretty much sums up yesterday. Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day looking for kelps. The weather was windy with a lot of white caps. Through the chop we managed to find some kelps holding some Dorado. Never found the kelp with the mother load, but we were still able to scrape together some fish. Although choppy weather, the anglers still managed to have a great time during their annual Solex contracting 1.5 day charter. We look forward to next year guy! Back out for 2 days tomorrow. Today we caught 2 yellowfin tuna and did not like what we saw offshore. We are going back to the islands starting tomorrow. Bring a 25 or 30 lb flyline setup and a 40 or 50 lb yoyo setup. Passports required !
