Today we spent the day trying for Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna. It was a grind but we were able to catch some Yellowtail, great grade Tuna, and some Wahoo. Not the red hot bite that we were hoping for but still a good time none the less. We also had to make bait tonight. It went great. Lots of mackerel came aboard and we have plenty to fish with. We will try it again tomorrow for the hoos and Tuna. Pictured here is Mick with a large Yellowtail and crewmen Jake (the Snake) and Morgan doing some shaking in the wee hours of the morning.

Hi friends. Yes, don't adjust your monitors, it is a live report from the long-range vessel Polaris Supreme. After a good week of maintenance (except for making sure our Sirius radio properly functioned) and cleaning, we departed Fisherman's Landing this morning at 0700 hours for a 17-day excursion with Mr. Tom Pfleger and friends. After loading a couple of hundred scoops of sardines, we cleared the point at 1000 hours and as anyone who knows a thing or two about weather and sea conditions in San Diego -- or any coastal Southern California area -- knows that our ride out this morning was rather sporty. We hadn't even cleared the point and the circus ensued.

The first day of a new season is always comical for us "seasoned" crew members. It's one of the funniest days of the year for me, that's the truth. Eight veteran, long-range mariners stumble and tumble their way about the boat like the time a baby takes its first step - banging into walls, tripping over their own boots and heck, a few of us even fought the urge to vomit. Granted, the weather was less than ideal but this happens on the ride to the bait receivers sometimes, let alone rockin' and rollin' in a confused sea a mile from them. Even with all of the flubs and flounders of the first few hours of being back on the boat, we're alive and if you know us, we're going to be just fine. I never really appreciated such an event before; going back out on our first crazy adventure of the year with my older brothers and that is exactly what we are - a family, and we're all back and ready to do this.

Since I have the time, I'll fill y'all in on the status of my previously mentioned "family" members. Riddler is doing just fine; he's switched from white Air Monarch Nike's to all black Nike's which he sometimes pairs with black socks - which looks amazing, by the way. Drew got married in November and then hurt his thumb in a roller-blading accident. As a few of you whom where at the Fred Hall show might have heard, Gunny's daughter was in a car accident but other than a few "minor" injuries, she's doing just fine and will make a full recovery. Jed didn't hurt himself this winter so we're pumped to have him healthy for a full season - although, we do have some time-in once we complete this trip so there is still time for his fingers to hurt but we're hopeful he'll be just fine come June. Mark only looks three and a half months pregnant rather than his usual eight and a half months preggo and his son was accepted in St. Joseph's law school, so that's dandy. Chefs' Schooler and Shawn are great and yours truly is doing fantastic - here and ready to do some bronzing after my Guatemalan bronze-a-thon a week ago peeled off the other day. Bottom line, we couldn't be better. We're pumped to be back.

Anyhow, today was nothing to write home about other than traveling and napping but we figured that we'd do so anyways. I can't reveal all of our secrets of all the fun we're going to have on this trip but I'll give you just a tiny glimpse of the craziness that we're about to take part in: on-board we have low-carb ice cream, Yellowtail roe, a paddle, a 12-volt motorized reel, and a man by the name of "Cowboy". I'll leave the rest to your wild imaginations. Good night now.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in with a FINAL Wrapup! We found a kelp on the way back in with a bonus 25 yellowtail. We did find catch 30 Yellowfin Tuna under a school of Dolphin. Captain Ryan Bostian just called in with an update from The San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had 33 Yellowtail (18 to 31 pounds) for 48 anglers. They fish were biting good in the morning on YoYo Iron. Then in the afternoon the surface action picked up. We are seeing lots of fish and things are looking good for the Coronado Islands. Hi friends. I've changed my name and occupation. I am now a 007 agent and my name is Pierce Bronzin'. The bronzing was just dandy today. Justin Thompson, get you're tanning oil ready. It was sick hot today and sunny like Cher liked it. Anyhow, the fishing was sporadic. We had a few stops in the morning on those twenty-five to forty pound yellowfin, went through a long lull, and then a little after lunch we got on a kelp that was once again, aquarium-style fishing. All you wanted on football yellowfin with a couple of standouts and some really nice flatheads too. On yesterday's aquarium-style stop, we opened up our siphon valves to the deck tanks and looked over the side of the hull to see a foamer of yellowfin, yellowtail, and dorado on our dead sardines that accumulate in the bottom of our deck wells. Awesome. Today, we did some lift-polin' which was fun too. Just letting you know that when I say aquarium-style, I mean aquarium-style. Hundreds of fish swimming in front of your eyes at any time is a sight to see and we're thankful that we've seen it twice in as many days. Sweet.

With that, we took only a few boxes full of tuna and dorado, released all the three pound yellowtail, and then we kept on with our search for trophies. From this point until trips end, will be hunting strictly trophies as far as our tuna agenda goes. Let's hope that they show up and we can get them located and do some damage. We'll get the camera out for those, for sure.

For tomorrow, we'll be doing some yellowtail fishing and we'll take it from there. Wish us luck and we'll chat with you tomorrow.

Today was a good day. We got into the yellowtail mid morning and it was game on till lunch time. The grade wasn't the best but it was good enough. 12 up to 22 pounds and all in between. We had the passengers save some tags for the bigguns though the common grounds looked dead so we traveled to new grounds and connected near the end of the day. Everyone had a few more shots at them before we had them wind um up so we could put ourselves in position to be at the bluefin grounds before daylight.

The weather today was great. Cold but windless and on a boat thats all we care about. No wind no sea. Shawn through out a kick but appetizer spread and we're preparing to eat a seared ahi dinner. Can't wait. Gotta go.

Mama Bear- Little Bear still has both feet planted on the boat and is doing great.

Hello everyone Today the water is noticeably warmer and cleaner than yesterday. We started off the day fishing for tuna. The grade was still that better sized fish 13-25 lbs. It just did not bite in the volume that we were hoping for, still great action though. In between anchor jobs we trolled around for Wahoo. Picking one off here and there, keeping things interesting. We feel that we are content with the tuna we have on board and are in search of more Wahoo tomorrow. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

We had a good day of fishing today on the yellowfin tuna most of the fish
were 40 to 55 pounds a few standouts in the 70 and 80 pound range! We again
had heavy losses due to tackle failure and of course the great white sharks!
Our weather was excellent all day. The guys are fishing 40 pound test to 50
pound test with very small hooks mostly size 1 or 1/0. Most of the fish lost
are probably in the 70 to hundred pound range. There just on so long that
the line wears through or they get munched! Everybody had a shot at two to
as many as seven fish throughout the day but our land ratio was down around
30%. We're going to do this again tomorrow hopefully we have better luck on
the landing end of it!, All in all it was great day.
