Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-3-2012 Report

 

The last travel day of the trip. Yes we get in tomorrow morning at 8 am. The boat will have one night in and then we're off with the O.T.R. group on a 10 day trip. Last night we stopped and played a game called flying fish. Myself, Matty and Mark got down. I live for competition. Your parents always teach you it doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you tried your best. That's a bunch of crap. Winning is everything. I scored 18 points with 1 assist taking the trophy. Yup Lon, we got you some flyers for the kite. Today's just like the rest of travel days. There's a movie going, people hanging out outside in this nice weather and some zzz's going down as well. Jeremy's vacation is over today. He just got cell phone reception so income the texts so he's staying busy.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 09-17-2020 It was a fair bite on the good grade tuna in the morning. We caught the only angler who didn't have a Wahoo one. And then went scouting. We where rewarded with a Boomer school of Dorado. We fished it for 45 minuets, Releasing most all fish. We kept only 14. Yellowtail tomorrow. See you then. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Today we covered over yesterday’s hot zone and beyond to only locate one school. Ended the with 2 yellowtail, a round of bonito and plenty of bottom fish. Hopeful the yellowtail are ready to eat tomorrow after today’s hiatus.

Hello everyone Today the water is noticeably warmer and cleaner than yesterday. We started off the day fishing for tuna. The grade was still that better sized fish 13-25 lbs. It just did not bite in the volume that we were hoping for, still great action though. In between anchor jobs we trolled around for Wahoo. Picking one off here and there, keeping things interesting. We feel that we are content with the tuna we have on board and are in search of more Wahoo tomorrow. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

36 pass. 18 yellowfin tuna 2 yellowtail. Spent most of the day trying to get the lay of the land and we like what we see. Please bring a 20lb bait rod and a 40lb bait rod. A colt sniper or popper rod is always a fun tool but certainly not necessary. Size 2 and size 2/0 live bait hooks. A short piece of flouro always helps. No passports required for offshore trips. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-18-2019 Another good day on the tuna, scratched up a few nice Wahoo and threw in some beautiful grouper to go with it. Overall a very satisfying and complete day! The weather kind of sucked the first half of the day but was good the second half! Weird squally weather this trip more drizzle and rain. Everybody's having a great time looking forward to tomorrow our last full day of fishing down south! Oh yeah almost forgot Wahoo enchiladas for dinner this evening! They were absolutely screaming!  Slow morning, strong afternoon was how the fishing went down today.  We had 2 fish by lunch time and I was feeling the pressure.  Thankfully at noon the sonar went boom boom and we went sideways for a few hours.  Let me try and give you a picture of how things looked out here.  The fishing was wide open on a mixed school of skipjack and yellowfin.  We had 23 passengers and basically 23 rent rods.  Chaos out here on the Polaris Supreme.  And by chaos I mean fun, fun, fun.  At any given time we had half the passengers with fish on while the other half were tying on hooks.  It was pretty funny looking at 12 people at a time in the center of the boat tying on hooks.  Usually our customers have 10+ rods with hooks on them ready to go but all our anglers had one.

 Here is how I describe stand up tuna fishing.  It's not like freshwater angling.  Freshwater angling is more like an art.  It can be very peaceful and relaxing.  You use light tackle and  finesse.  With stand up tuna fishing, we can hook 24 fish at one time with every fish swimming a different direction with every crew member screaming out directions.  Gaffs are flying, reels are screaming and lines are snapping and it's some of the funnest $%^& in the world.  That's what today made me want to write.  We had a good time.

 We're on our way in already and we leave again tomorrow for 8 days.  See you then.
