We had a very busy turn around today. It was time to change oil and fuel filters and make a repair. But all is good and we're under way. Our new computers are getting more and more dialed in. I now have spell check. I love sitting back in the chair now and typing these reports. Not now though because the letters shrunk on me again. I'm going to have to figure that out. So here we go again on another 5 day. Our baits good we think. Time will always tell. It's looking like things might get a bit breezy the next few days so we have Cedros in mind. We're going to fish tuna tomorrow first and then most likely fish the Island the day after for a couple days and let the weather come down before finishing up in tuna land for our last day. That's the game plan at the moment anyway. Things change out here all the time though. In the end we just take it one day at a time.
The official weigh in is in. We have Mark weighing in at 231.4 pounds. And in the left corner we have Justin weighing in at 228.2 pounds. If your just tuning in, he who loses the most weight by October 1 wins the bet. I'll keep you posted after each progress report hopefully at the end of each trip. This excites me. Competition. I love it.

Polaris Supreme arrived June 10 after a five-day trip. Owner-skipper Tom Rothery docked the boat at Fisherman's Landing and weighed the best of the catch.
"We fished open water and found a new albacore area," he said at the scales. "We fished our first night out, and got a few. The albacore bit good, and we also got some nice yellowtail off kelps. On our first half-day of fishing we had an excellent bite on albies of 30 to 40 pounds."
Chartermaster Paul Hess of Napa won first place for his 42.4-pound albacore, which set a new high mark for the species this season. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 Eagle Claw hook tied to 30-pound Yo-Zuri line on a Trinidad 16 reel and a Calstar 800 M rod. Brian Schwartz of Napa won second place for a 40.8-pounder, and Casey Weaver of Woodland took third for a 40.6-pound albacore.
"He came in after 15 minutes," said Hess. "It was a standard albacore deal."

Today we enjoyed the calm comforts of the island.
We scratched all day on nice quality yellowfin tuna. All in the 35-45 lb range. There were larger ones that were hooked but the the great whites had their way with us. Some anglers lost as many as two in the 60lb class due to the toothy critters. It was a good show and pretty impressive to see a 12-16' great white eat a 60 lb tuna in a couple of bites. We also had some pretty impressive bites as our dinner was an excellent Parmesan encrusted yellowtail with rice pilaf and a mixture of zucchini, mushrooms and onions. Tomorrow morning we will give it one more shot here.
Thanks!

Another travel day to get to the tuna grounds. Good weather and good food. Fresh tuna steaks with oriental fresh vegetables for lunch and a tasty New York steak for dinner. We are ready to get our lines wet. Wish us luck. By the way, those of you up around Sacramento, go to the boat show and look for Dave Dunham in the Polaris Supreme booth. He will be in there to answer all your questions and take your reservation. 2008 is going to be a great season. Come join us.Tommy and crew

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-26-2019
Good afternoon everyone I hope you guys had a great day like we did! Our weather was absolutely slick flat calm all day. I am afraid we're going to have to pay for this later on though. The usual rigging eating sleeping went on throughout the whole day here. Getting geared up for tomorrow when we arrive in our fishing destination.

J. J. Gerritsen docked his Apollo at Fisherman's landing January 21 after a trip of a day and a half to the Colnett area.
"We fished the high spots," he said, "when we saw really good sign of yellows on the sonar. We had good action on drifts for 26 yellowtail, most on yoyo jigs in blue and white or scrambled eggs color.
"About 9:30 a.m. we moved into deeper water to rockfish on slow drifts. We had excellent ling cod fishing on lings up to 20 pounds. We got 78 of them, mostly on the dropper loop with sardines, but some on jigs, too. We filled out our limits with reds anmd some large bonito. There were a lot of bonito around, up to 14 pounds.
"We also had a flurry of Humboldt squid, which hindered the yellowtail fishing until they left."
J. J. said he would be running these trips every Friday night at right p.m. through the end of February.
