hudson canyon Fishing Report 2025

Say what????? Limits of Yellowfin (25-45 pounds) the last day of November and after our last storm. Yup! Great sign of 100-200 pound plus Bluefin too, but the couple bites we had got away quickly. We have a few more trips this week before we go to the boat yard.

Today was tough fishing. We were able to hook and land more fish today and they were all better grade. The fish today were also more eager to eat bigger line and hooks as opposed to the ones yesterday. Because of that we were able to put the wood to them and bring them to the boat quickly. We had some shark casualties but nothing too extreme. In fact the ones that were getting chased by the sharks charged the boat to try and evade them. So as long was we were ready with a gaff and able to steer the fish clear from the propellers and rudders we had some fish that came right in. Overall a tough but fruitful day. Wee will be looking for kelp's tomorrow targeting school sized Tuna and Dorado.

Fall is probably our favorite time of year. 2 yellowfin 6 dorado 57 yellowtail 18 skipjack.

Good evening folks, Polaris Supreme checking in. We had a fantastic day of yellowtail fishing! These larger size the yellowtail where biting everything from the dropper-loop and fly-line baits too yo-yo and surface iron jigs. It was definitely not a hard and get bit, unlike the last couple weeks. Many times throughout the day we had yellowtail boiling around the boat! We also caught a nice white seabass during one of the yellowtail flurries! Overall, it was a terrific day of fishing! We are now anchored up in an area where we have a great chance of catching white seabass, halibut and yellowtail throughout the night and early morning. Tomorrow, we will be spending our time in the same area in the hopes of duplicating the success we had today! Thanks for reading, Team Supreme

This is a 2 day trip that fishes September 27-28 (departing the night of the 26th).This outing is limited to 16 anglers.

The unusual part of this trip is half the anglers will be fly fishers. If you conventional fish, this means you get the stern to yourself as fly rodders like the sideways drift of the boat and stay on the windward side. Fly rodders are the first in on the slide but based on past averages, conventional will still out-fish us 5 to 1.

The trip is 670.00 and includes fishing permit, bunk and food. Drinks, crew tip and fish cleaning is extra.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-27-2016 Thanks again for checking in. We arrived nice and early to the tuna grounds to get ourselves in the best position for the days work. Shortly after first light we decided where we wanted to get things going. It started off quite slow as the conditions weren't just right. We lacked current which is not favorable to catching fish so it became a little bit of a waiting game. That gave Chef Mike his time to get breakfast out of the way. Not too long after we got mobile and did some looking around and finally started checking out some different schools and began scratching away at a few bluefin. They were in the 18 lb class which is not bad at all. As the day progressed, we found the spot that looked the best and posted up, getting a solid chum line going, got the balloons out and settled in. The fish slowly started popping up with some bluefin in the 70 lb class hitting the deck as well as Marilyn landing her first ever balloon fish and first yellowfin at about 70 lbs. Congrats on that one!! The rest of the afternoon was a steady pick on that beautiful grade of tuna. You couldn't ask for a better way to end a 3 day trip. As soon as we landed our last 2 nice bluefin, one being Theresa's 75 lb "dream fish", it was time to pack it up and head home for San Diego. Well the fishing is not red hot but the grade is for sure bigger. We had many Yellowfin Tuna today that are over 100 lbs. Incredible grade. There is lots of life here and we have another day to see if they really want to bite. Wish us luck! Here we have Mike Grella with a well earned Guadalpe Tuna. Also we have Richard with his big tuna well over 100lbs caught on a Penn senator reel! Holy cow Richard you sure do like a challenge! Good job though!

Aug. 10
    Well, I can't say we caught very much today.  I can say we saw plenty of schools, we just couldn't get more then one of them to bite and on that school we caught one 70 pounder.  I'm thinking we saw about a dozen schools of tuna today but like I said, it was the wrong day for biting fish in these grounds.  The weather though today, man o man is it nice out here so at least we got to look at non biting fish in good weather.

    In other fishing news we got the word from the higher ups that Mexico has lifted the ban on recreational bluefin tuna catching and keeping so with that news we're going to roll on down into some traditional Mexican bluefin tuna grounds and give that a go tomorrow.  We'll be looking for yellowfin tuna as well tomorrow.  We've heard they"re in the area too.  Wish us luck.
