hensley lake Fishing Report 2025

We have a few open spots on this weekends 2.5 day charter to Colnett and surrounding areas! We had good signal on yellowtail this last trip, and ended up with 55!! To go with wonderful rock fishing and shallow water lingcod!! These trips are set to early depart at 5pm for maximum fishing time!! EXCELLENT ROCKCOD FISHING NOW!!! Our first trip with 24 anglers bagged 223 Rockfish and 17 Lingcod. APOLLO'S January/February Rock Cod trips are now online and ready to be booked! We will continue running every Friday evening through February. Cost for these trips is $235 a person which includes your bait bunk and Mexican permit. We had some short range trips online and were able to catch a good amount of school sized fish and 3 jumbo tuna! Including the First 2 cow tuna to come aboard the Polaris Supreme in 4 years!

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning with an audio update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. We ended up with 11 Bluefin Tuna around 50 pounds. The weather has been great and we are seeing a very good sign of fish.

Aug 16

Today started off on the slow side. For a few hours after daylight we saw virtually nothing. A little bit in the dark and even less in the day light. A couple of the boats found schools and were drifting so of course the stress level goes up. Thankfully we found a school after 9:00 and drifted with them till after lunch. They didn't bite full speed by any means but it was steady picking for most of the time. And oh yeah, they were the 50-70 pound grade. Yes baby, they're back! For today anyways. Who knows when they'll disappear again. Maybe tomorrow. Anyways after that drift, that was it for us for the day. We never found another deal. But I chalk this day up as a good one because that's just a beautiful grade of bluefin.

We're headed down now and we're going to try for some yellows in the morning and try our hands at some yellowfin in the afternoon. That's the tentative game plan for now anyways. Things change out here constantly. That's fishing. The weather today was top notch. I give it a 9.5 in the morning and an 8.7 in the afternoon. See you tomorrow.

To mama bear- Your little angel did great today. 2 record breaking bluefin for him. They were bigger then he was. He's currently sleeping in bed safe and sound.

Capt Ryan Bostian checked in from the San Diego with a trip wrap up for their 41 anglers to report that they caught 135 Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. They were biting on the flylined sardines and the surface jigs, we also a few on the yoyo jigs, pretty good fishing today. We will be back at it again tomorrow, get down here and get in on this hot action.

Aug. 23

Let me wine for a few sentences please. With the exception of a 3 day window in the second week, we haven't had two days of good weather in a row in the whole month of August. It's tough to even make it a full day with good weather. Windy August 2013. Screw you August. Needless to say it's not very comfortable traveling right now. Good weather early turned to blown out pre lunch, then backed off for an hour , now blown out again.

OK, I'm done now. Slow fishing today. We had three deals today that didn't bite all that well. 8 out of 1, 14 out of another and then we had 1 for 1 and then we called it a trip. Oh well, we still had an awesome trip. We'll be in tomorrow after 7:00 in the morning and the big guy will be taking it out for a 5 day trip.
