hayward lakes Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay.  Today we fished at the Coronado Islands.  The offshore action has been too inconsistent.

Today we had 14 anglers catch 24 Yellowtail (10 to 20 pounders).  They were biting the surface iron pretty good.  Fly-lined sardines also worked well on 25 pound test.  You should bring a yoyo outfit too.  We also had 21 Bonito today.  We also had some Calico Bass action.

Capt Ryan checked in from the San Diego to report that they finished yesterday's trip with 111 Yellowtail. We got a lot on the yoyo iron as well as the surface iron and flylined baits. Make sure you bring all your Yellowtail gear to be prepared, a 40 lb rig, a 25 lb bait rod and a surface iron rod. Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day chasing Fin Whales and bird schools, there were very nice schools of Yellowfin associated with them. Tuna ranging from 8 lbers to 40lbs! there were defiantly some nice fish mixed in. In addition to that there were some Dorado around. Lots of life making for an exciting day. We will be chasing these fish again tomorrow, wish us luck. Will report back then, Team Supreme

Hello everyone,

today we finished up fishing for these big blue fin tuna. It was an amazing finish. Everyone on the boat landed a fish 130 pounds or bigger up to 220. Incredible fishing for these big blue fin and enough to go around for everyone we will be in the dock tomorrow to get a final weight on these things.

We fished this morning without much luck. The one that we did hook the shark ate. So this will be another chapter for Bob Vance in his charter diary. Everybody had a great time and we look forward to seeing them all back again next year for Bob's annual trip. We will be in to the dock at 5:30am. We depart on Garry Roberts 9-day tomorrow morning. Myself as well as the crew are anxious to get down to Alijos. The fishing reports have been really good and we are looking forward to having our own great reports.  Good evening everyone!  This here is just a teaser.  We're out for a  couple days and then we're dockside for a little.  You won't be reading steady emails for another week and a half or so.  I'm going to keep this short until then.  I'll explain all about our new electronics and things later when we have them more figured out.  For example I'd like to figure out how writing these reports can be more comfortable.  Nevermind I just figured it out.  This keyboard is cordless.  So how does it charge?  Good example there.  I wonder if I  can write this in bed?  Anyhow, we fished some today.  We got in the  zone around 5 and it wasn't boring.  We were pretty much always running on something until 7:30. There wasn't much meat to it though. 
 Just few fish spots mostly.  We have a yellowfin to show for it.  First tuna of the year!
We'll be in this zone tomorrow.  Give it all day and see how it goes.  We'll cover more ground tomorrow with 12 more hours to fish that's for sure.  I'll write much more later I promise.  I"m still figuring this computer out.       

Tommy Rothery docked Polaris Supreme at Fisherman's Landing October 5 following a five-day trip. "We had full speed fishing today offshore on kelp patties," read the report from the boat for October 4. "However for the most part, the yellowtail and dorado we were catching were small. So we released all but a few. We did however get some nice grade yellowfin. No big hits, but good action as we picked away at 30 lb. yellowfin. Jeff prepared a great Cajun chicken with avocado, mozzarella and fresh salsa for lunch. And as we head in tonight he is serving us steak and lobster. We will hit the dock tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. Give Susan a call at 619-390-7890." Jackpot winner Kenny Pole of Lakeside had a dandy 45-pound tuna for first place. He said it came on a sardine, a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, 50-pound Yo-Zuri line on a TLD 30 reel and a six-foot rod of unknown make. Pole said the fish fought for 45 minutes.
