Good weather today as we traveling down south looking for wahoo, tuna and tails. Not much to report on the catching but that should change shortly.

Very rough seas made landing our 27 yellowtail quite the challenge. The JRI 66 was the hot lure.

 Wow!  What a day.  2015!  We started it off early on anchor.  The sun wasn't even up yet and we were catching tuna and wahoo.  For about an hour there on anchor we were gettinum.  We had about 30 of those 25-30+ pound tuna and almost 20 wahoo before an hour.  Things slowed so we pulled anchor and got nasty.  We had a couple other bingers for wahoo for about 10 each time, and of course we would catch that big tuna during those drifts.  After that though, us and the 3 other boats that were here pretty much had the wahoo caught for the day.  There was a few left to be had but we mostly caught that tuna up to perhaps 40 pounds the rest of the day.  Not wide open.  We're not "fixed up".  Just steady for most of the day.  Before dark we started "the troll of shame".  I've never done that the second day of the trip.  We got 2 passengers out of there and still have 2 or 3 left who haven't caught a wahoo yet.  Oh they had there chances.  Some of those guys on that team lost 4 or 5 skin today.  But that's wahoo fishing.  Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes the bar eats you.

 We're going to try this again in the morning.  I would love to get 40 or 50 more tuna and a couple more handfuls of wahoo.  That would be epic.  After the morning hit we're going to make a run and try for some yellows in the afternoon.
        

Stopped on a school of tuna large enough to catch 200 but unfortunately we hit them when they were off the bite. We managed to scratch 35 yellowfin on light line bait and poppers.

 All I can say is we tried.  The baiting went well last night and we arrived to cow town before sunrise.  Until 3:30 in the afternoon we didn't see much.  We fished hard though once again.  Most stayed at the rail.  We tried 4 anchor jobs, and a bunch of drifts but like I said, until 3:50 we didn't see much.  At 3:50 though things woke up but unfortunately it was short lived and we have nothing to show for it.  It gets dark so early now.  We saw 3 good spots of 200-300 pound tuna blowing out of the water and 1 really good sonar school of 50 pounders but we could get no reaction from them.  At least we got to see them.  It's better than never seeing them at all.

 I felt the vibe on board and I know the passengers want some action so we're going to try and deliver.  We'll be running up tonight and we're going to give "The Ridge" another try tomorrow.  We'll go for action and then we still have wahoo to catch.
        

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-23 to 25-2019 We arrive this morning from our three day trip. We left last Sunday with very high expectations. Only to get them crushed over the next three days. There had been a week straight of fantastic yellowfin tuna and bluefin tuna fishing. It all came tumbling down on Sunday. We definitely hit things on the backside at the very bottom of the bell curve. We managed to scratch up a few nice tuna after getting an early start out on Sunday but all the big hits came that morning. Monday we were able to find one school of good grade yellowfin tuna that stayed with us a while that gave us hopes for the rest of the day being good fishing. It didn't turn out that way though we only picked up another handful of fish throughout of long day of searching. Tuesday we had plenty of action but it was mostly on skipjack in the morning with a mix of smaller grade yellowfin tuna. We hammered out the day until dark with not much luck. As we all know It makes a huge difference on timing when you get out to the fishing grounds we just missed it by a few days. We had a great group of anglers that stuck with us Trying hard all throughout the three days. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-07-2012

Absolutely gorgeous flat calm weather today. And that was the key to pulling the rabbit out of the hat at the end of the day. Definitely a slow start from morning through mid-day. But in the afternoon it was game on, on light breezers of yellowfin tuna. The schools probably only held 50 fish each and were really, really hard to see. Just barely making the lightest ripple on the water. The challenge of it made it really fun for Drew and I trying to spot them. Especially since they immediately bum rushed the boat when we slid on them. And everybody hooked one right off the bat. If you were quick, you got two before it was all over. And then off we were to find another school. The fast pace was very exciting after the last two days of plunker fishing. We fished late so we will have a late arrival tomorrow, probably around 9:00 am. We will get out an update on jackpot contenders and then for the next 3-day, Captain Drew will be out with the Prince of Words, Richie, doing the updates.
