grand Fishing Report 2025

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-21-2016 For anyone that wants to go out and fish the local tuna outside San Diego that has been biting consistently we have a day and a half trip leaving on Sunday at 6 PM fishing Monday and coming back Tuesday morning at 6 AM. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, a good broken record, we had another great day of Wahoo fishing! It didn't stop there from dark on we had a great nighttime bite on Quality yellowtail, absolutely a beautiful grade. Talk about burning the candle at both ends of the stick! You guys leaving on the Ahi charter on the 22nd make sure you have plenty of the medium-size marauders in your tackle box. Not every day but some days the sharks are really really bad eating marauders and the Wahoo on the marauders. Anybody wanting to get in on some of the best action I've ever seen on these eight and 10 day trips we have openings on our limited load 10 day trip on November 22. Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a very enjoyable fishing report, we ended with 99 Yellowfin Tuna, 9 Dorado and about 40 Skipjack Tuna. We got on a kelp late and had to leave them biting, the weather was has been great and looks like it will that way for the rest og the week. We do have some spots on upcoming trips, our Wednesday trip is a go for sure and we have some room on most other dates. Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an audio update from "The San Diego" out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had a group of first timers on the boat. We had 29 anglers catch 95 Yellowtail, 24 Barracuda and 11 Calico Bass. We had very good fishing today with plenty of opportunities. Fly-lined sardines, Surface Irons and casting on boils was the ticket!

Oct. 15

We had excellent yellowfin tuna fishing today. It wasn't a one stop shop or anything like that, but rather a short stopping thing for six or eight or more per stop but we did this every hundred yards or so and we did this all day. Normaly we would be 100% stoked with this fishing but unfortunately the grade was not great. We were looking for the 25-35 pound fish and would never think twice about keeping an 18-25 pound fish but the fish we were catching were as small as 8 pounds and not very many exceeded 12 pounds. We had good action though. We were kept busy all day long. Nobody had time for a nap. We were kept on our toes. Anyone who wanted to keep some yellowfin tuna had that opportunity today and many did though we released about as much as we kept but like I said it was still fun none the less. The weather wasn't ideal. The wind was blowing some and the current was going straight into the wind which calls for rolly conditions but the sun was out and it was ok. Everything seemed to smooth out after dark.

We're going to go do some yellowtail fishing tomorrow. .

A DRIFT WE Will NEVER FORGET ! Today we went out with 6 passengers who ignored yesterday’s fish count and understand that fishing is more about spending time in nature than harvesting meat. After our 3 hour drift everyone onboard had either landed or fought and released a fish of a lifetime. Final tally was 7 bluefin, 6@ 110-150 and 1@65 lbs. please come prepared with a 25 lb rod a a 40 lb rod and a 50-80 lb rod. Today’s best setup was a 4oz. torpedo sinker rubber banded above a 2/0 circle hook on 50-80 lb.

The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

33 pass. 23 yellowtail 75 rockfish. Today we saw more yellowtail than we did on Sunday. Unfortunately we also saw acres of bait in the same zone. A couple of brief opportunities is all they would give up today. We will check back tomorrow.

Hello Everyone, Today we had a great day chasing the bigger Bluefin Tuna. We were able to land some great quality fish. Most came on the kite, but the one we landed on a fly line outfit bit 80lb with a great designer hook. Our landing ratio is great, we only need a few more of these quality Bluefin Tuna to make it so everyone has landed a fish over 120lbs. Hopefully we can get it done tomorrow.
