Just returned from guadelupe and had full limits of yellowfin tuna to 90# along with some absolutely beautiful guadelupe grade yellowtail from 35 to 44 #s. With good weather to boot. Hi friends. Big, beautiful 25-45 lb. yellowfin with a few handfuls of those beastly bluefin is what was on our plate today. We had a couple of good drifts in fantastic weather that made our day just dandy. Everybody is really amazed by this quality grade of yellowfin and I'm personally amazed that crewmember Mark doesn't have his own television show. Networks are missing out on what a goldmine following Mark around with a camera would be, 24/7. Some people might think that they're paying a healthy sum of money to come out fishing on a long range boat but I look at it like, people are paying a lot of money to come spend a few days with Mark Clark.

Anyhow, here is a short recap of our day: good morning (0545 hours), good breakfast (French toast, sausage, and eggs), good trolling rotations, good fishing, good weather, good sunshine, good lunch (chili), good fishing, good afternoon snacks, good galley assistant/chef-in-training (Shawn), good friends, good times, good dinner (roasted turkey with all the goods), good showers, good squid making, good night. It's alllllllllllll good. We allllllll bundle.We'll chat with you tomorrow.

2 days of searching was rewarded with a bottom of the 9th rally on good grade yellowtail. Flylined sardines on 25 lb is the most productive right now.

Our morning started off at 4:30. There was some good meter life on the first spot we looked at so we woke everyone up to try it and we had it figured out in the first 45 minutes. A few good grade yellows and a whole lot of smaller ones so we brought the lines in and continued down. An hour later we tried another spot for some more nice yellows but not enough so we continued down. The next spot a couple hours later was a disappointment. Not much yellowtail and not much wahoo. We got one wahoo almost to gaff before it spit the hook and swam away. So we continued down. The next spot we tried produced one beautiful wahoo and showed pretty decent sign of good grade yellowtails that didn't bite like you'd think. We caught some but it didn't keep us anchored up till sunset so we continued down. 1:30 hours later we were anchored up on our last spot of the evening and again it showed pretty good sign of yellows that bit pretty good for us up until dark. It was good enough to stay put and try it in the morning. We might of caught 1 million dorado today. I lost track at around one hundred and three but it might have been around 1 million. Unfortunately most of these dorado weren't much bigger then a neck tie and we let most go to fight another day. The weather was windy today. Wind and swell but for some reason it wasn't bad fishing weather. Maybe because our usual direction we worked was down but even when we would slide on a jig strike we never took any mean snaps. The wind came down after the sun went down so we're hoping it stays down.

Today was a tough day at the island. There was a lot of fish around but we had trouble getting bites. However the bites we were able to get were great grade. Most being 50-70 lbs and one standout that was well into the mid hundreds. We are going to try our hand at the variety the day after tomorrow. Hopefully Wahoo, Dorado, Grouper, and school sized tuna. Good evening. Oh boy!! We finally have some rough weather two weeks of awesome weather and it's taking a little bit of getting used to. I've only bounced back from the dash and banged the wall behind me twice so I'm pumped! I think I might have corrected my lower back issues too...not.

Anyhow, we fished for Yellowtail today and had a slow go of it for most of the day up until we had a nice go of it in the late afternoon. The fly-lined sardines were catching the majority of the 'tails but the yo-yo jigs worked a little bit as well. The "knotheads" (Mark's distant cousins) destroyed us for most of the day but during our little flurry in the later part of the day, they left us alone for the most part and we had some clean fishing. We caught a host of other species as well and when all was said and done, we had a respectable score and it was a fine way to end the day.

Dinner was awesome tonight. Our good friend Sam donated one of his tasty Bluefin--unbeknownst to him until it was served (Thanks, Sam)--and Chef Shawn seared that thing to perfection and served it with white rice and veggies and man, it was delicious. I don't know if I've ever had seared Bluefin like that before. It was out of this world and I wasn't the only one saying that. Excellent way to end the day, for sure.

So that is all. We're bouncing up the line as we speak and we'll be in the BFT zone in a couple of hours and we'll be giving it a half a day until we run out of time. We'll see what happens. The weather is up which usually is conducive to the Bluefins having their noses in the mud but crazier things have happened and we'll see if we can't connect. We'll report with you tomorrow and we'll see how this weather plays out.
