freeport tx Fishing Report 2025

Good morning everyone, Yesterday we worked our way up and tried for yellowtail briefly in the morning. We had to be extremely cautious because the early morning fog was very thick. However when it did rise we were able to catch a few yellowtail, but no boomer hits to go with it. We are still very far down the Baja coast and we need to keep working up, so we spent the rest of the day steaming up while dragging some jigs. We will be scouting offshore tomorrow. Today we had some decent Tuna and Wahoo fishing. It was for sure a grind but we were able to capitalize on a few shots on both Tuna and Wahoo. The Wahoo were good grade and really keyed in on the mackerel we caught last night. So it was as good thing we put in the work in to catch them! The shot at tuna yielded a great grade of fish . 20-40 lbers. The only downside is that they quit biting when the current died. Tomorrow we will try for wahoo and Dorado on kelps wish us luck ! When length matters! Today we are fishing Wahoo. Whoever catches the LONGEST Wahoo will receive a NEW Diawa Saltiga 30HA reel. So far it looks like it will be a game of inches! Keep em coming aboard everyone! Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

Captain Ryan called in late last night to report fantastic fishing conditions on the Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. The fishing were biting live bait. Ryan recommends 25 pound mono with a flurocarbon leader. The fishing are in the 20 to 25 pound class. They were biting really good. Come on down and fish on the San Diego. Stopping a school of tuna that is swimming at 8 kts often requires a lot of chum. Thanks to the best bait company in the business @everinghambaitbarge we managed to get a few schools to hang out with us for awhile. 42 bluefin 18 yellowtail.

Ryan Bostian called in with this update on fishing on the San Diego, "Boy we pulled one out of the hat today, we had zero Yellowtail on the boat at about 1:30 PM. We found some fish late in the day, we caught 15 Yellowtail, 57 Barrcuda and 25 Rockfish for 34 passengers. The water temperature dropped a little this morning with the wind that we had yesterday and the water gradually crept up and got right back up to 63.5 degrees, 64 degrees. The Yellowtail are still down here, excellent, excellent fishing late in the day. We ended up with 15 of them we lost at least another 15. The same story as earlier, they are nice size, in shallow water. If you are coming down bring 25 or 30 lb. test with 2/0 hooks and be ready to fly line some bait. You can also surface lure on the top for the folks that like to do that.

Sien On and his charter group got a quick shot in the bottom of the ninth. They landed 31 yellowfin 8 yellowtail 2 bonito. A small hook and 20lb fluorocarbon got most of the bites.

44 pass. 156 yellowtail 17 barracuda 5 kelp bass. Flylined bait, surface iron and yo-yo. Passports required.
