Rosemont Media private charter brought out 21 passengers and they “made them pay”. They landed limits of yellowfin before noon. We recommend having a rod to fish 30-50lb test when the tuna are eating everything in the water.

Today we saw incredible sign of 25-40 bluefin tuna. Make sure you bring a 25 lb bait rod to go along with your 40,50 and 60 lb rod.

Very fun fishing on yesterday’s overnight trip.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-01-2016 Good afternoon Polaris Supreme fans. Today we ended our Chaparro 5 day trip with a bang!!! We found plenty of kelps holding yellowtail and a few dorado which put smiles on all. It stared off early today with trolling team one setting out their rods and the mast-man up and looking. It didn't take long for our first kelp to come into view. As we pulled up to our first kelp and lines went into the water the yellowtail rushed the boat and and ate our baits. After repeating that several times we got what we needed for the trip. What a way to end the trip! Everyone is breaking down their gear and the crew is ready to clean the boat as we are now headed for San Diego. Gunny and the Supreme Team!

We got limits of Dorado and 90 Yellowfin Tuna for our 21 anglers.

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a very enjoyable fishing report, we ended with 99 Yellowfin Tuna, 9 Dorado and about 40 Skipjack Tuna. We got on a kelp late and had to leave them biting, the weather was has been great and looks like it will that way for the rest og the week. We do have some spots on upcoming trips, our Wednesday trip is a go for sure and we have some room on most other dates. Today was one of those days in which our anglers and ourselves will probably remember for the rest of our lives. Not because of the amount of fish we caught, but the tremendous shows these fish put on. It all began this morning when we found a fishy area on our way to a spot in hopes of wahoo, tuna and grouper. We spotted a nice bird school in some beautiful looking water. When it first came into sight, still a couple miles away, we saw some 30lb grade tuna jumping around in the middle of it. When we got up to it, the scene was a bit different. The tuna were pushed off of it by a jumbo school of big stripped marlin. And what a show they put on for us. A couple of our anglers presented their bait or jigs in the right place and the right time and hooked into these big beautiful fish. They where tail-walking and jumping high out of the water everywhere. On top of that, we were constantly seeing free-swimming marlin on all sides of the boat. Some even came within five feet of the boat! There were literally hundreds of marlin around the boat. It was truly a sight to behold! Finally, after battling and releasing all the marlin we hooked, we carried on making our way to one of our spots that has been extremely productive for big wahoo, tuna and grouper the past couple months for us. When we got there we quickly boated a couple handfuls of very nice mid-sized yellow fin tuna. Even though the tuna where present, there was little to no sign of wahoo. All of our anglers having wahoo on their mind, we decided to make our way to a spot about nights run from where we were. We will be there at the crack of dawn tomorrow. It's late in the season, but Guadalupe Island is still holding and producing good catches of quality yellowfin tuna.

"We just returned this morning from another very successful Fall Guadalupe trip," said the report from the charter boat Apollo October 25. "This was another charter with 12 friends. We made good time getting to the Island and arrived at the south end around 9:30 am. There were good biting school size (25/40 lb) yellowfin tuna biting on the anchor. There were also a few schools of better grade (50/100 lb) fish to be found if one was willing to work for it. We were willing! We worked the Island for 4 days mainly targeting that better grade YFT and produced a beautiful catch of 127 Yellowfin tuna. The biggest was 108 lbs with 6 other fish breaking the century mark."

The good fishing at the island could go on until Christmas. It usually lasts until the water drops below 67 degrees or so. Old-timers tell stories about fishing yellowfin or bluefin tuna at the island when there was snow on the peaks. Guadalupe is the one destination that consistently produces yellowfin tuna of 50 to 100 pounds or more short of Alijos Rocks, another full day's cruise south.
