The Polaris Supreme docked at Fisherman's Landing August 19. Tom Rothery skippered the five-day trip with 24 anglers, and remarked that this Dan Heil memorial trip was the 23rd for the charter group. Jeff Hoover of Richland, WA won first place and took over the top spot in the jackpot and for the best bluefin of the season. "He fought for 45 minutes," said Geoff. "He was the strongest fish I ever felt, and my best fish ever. He beat me up!" Hoover said he baited a sardine on a 3/0 Super Mutu hook. He used 40-pound line, a Penn two-speed reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod. Bob Hagan of Ramona was second for a 38-pound Opah that erred on a sardine. Mike Myer of La Mirada won third place for a 37.6-pound albacore, but declined to stand in the lineup, so Gene McKenna of San Jose stepped up with his 30-pound dorado.

The San Diego checked in with this today:

2 yellowtail and all the bottom grabbers you could want. Water conditions seem to be improving but the south wind we’ve dealt with the last couple days have made things interesting.

On the recent Simpatico 6 day trip, anglers had access to fishing with Accurate rods and the new Valiant and Tern reels.

The outfits were perfect for the fish we encountered on the ridge. Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, and Grouper.

Hello everyone, Today was spent traveling up. A great ride to end a great trip filled with a variety of fish. We would like to thank Billy Stephens for putting together such a great charter! Hey everyone it's time again to start seriously thinking about when you will be able to get on the boat for a tuna trip. Well the albies are being caught right now in good weather and some bft are showing up too. We have 2 openings on a two day charter next week. We depart on Wednesday night and return on Friday night. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 10-22-2019 Today was one of those mind numbing days where you just can't believe fishing is that good. We had fantastic fishing on just monster size Wahoo and unbelievable fishing on beautiful big Dorado. We got Wahoo throughout the whole day and Dorado was a steady 2 1/2 hour bite of catch and release with the guys keeping only a few of what they wanted. Both the Dorado and Wahoo are just an absolute premium grade. Beautiful weather again today and will be out offshore again tomorrow looking for those big beautiful kelp patties that produced such a phenomenal day. We had plenty of Wahoo photos but neglected to get one single Dorado photo. You'll just have to believe me it was good and they were big. Good Evening Fisherman, We left the dock early this morning on our annual Holeman 10 day with a great load of mid-sized sardines and very nice weather. We are now making our way down south to the Tuna and Wahoo grounds. We should be arriving to the fishing grounds early Tuesday morning. The majority of the day, after leaving the bay, was spent getting to know everyone and rigging up. Tomorrow we will be giving our famous fishing seminar. There is plenty of leader making and general tackle rigging preparation for the fishing to come. Till Tomorrow, Team Supreme
