douglas lake Fishing Report 2024

1 yellowtail 9 calico bass 165 reds 70 assorted rockfish. Excellent bottom fishing and a token trophy.

Today’s charter group had a great time catching 5 yellowtail, 30 calico bass and plenty of shallow water bottomfish. However, 5 yellowtail is not going to pay the bills for an open party run. Tomorrow and Tuesday we will be fishing offshore targeting Tuna, yellowtail and mahi mahi. Come prepared with a variety of line sizes from 20-60 lb. might want to bring a popper or a colt sniper rod as well. No Passports required.

Oct. 17th

 

We had some good yellowtail fishing today. It took a little while to get going this morning but we had a couple hours of good tailing before it shut off before lunch like its been doing in the zone we were in. After things shut off we made a 4 hour move and had some good fishing again for about an hour before dark. The weather once again was great and we're currently traveling north to look for the bluefin tomorrow. Things have slowed down tremendously up there lately but we're going to look in some newer grounds where we see some good looking water on our sea surface temp charts. There will be a few of us spread out looking tomorrow so hopefully between the three of us we can get something located.

I told Mark today I didn't think he could go one hour without talking. He didn't think so either but he tried and was surprisingly successful. He can not talk for one hour. I think he might die if he tried to do it all day though so I'm not going to challenge him to that.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with a Coronado Islands update! We are wrapping up our trip at the Islands. We have 16 anglers and we have LIMITS of Yellowtail. The water temp have come up 4 degrees. Very good surface iron fishing and fly-lined bait too. If you are going to join us please bring a Passport. If you do not have a passport please call the San Diego Passport Agency and they can get you a passport in 24 hours. Come on down and join us!

Hello everyone, Today we spent the day working up towards home. Hitting spot after spot until we finally had a shooter of yellowtail at the last minute. A great flurry of fish to end out our fishing time. The yellows we landed were defiantly large, all between 20 and 30 lbs. We have the boat pointed home at the moment. Hopefully we make good speed!  There really isn't much to report today.. We didn't fish.  We traveled all day.  We chose to fish later last night in the windless lee of Cedros catching yellows, tuna, and seabass instead of going offshore in the wind/swell and most likely catching nothing or small tuna.  I think we made the right choice.  We had a bit of a bumpy ride last night, or so I'm told.  As usual I slept through it.  We were almost to the coast when I woke up for my watch, so things were a lot smoother.  So today we slept in and had a late breakfast of biscuits and gravy.  The crew got our scrub on while the customers read, hung out and played poker.  After lunch, on cue, most of the boat took a nice nap.  Now dinner is at it's end and my watch is almost over and I'm ready for bed.

 We'll be arriving tomorrow at 6:00 in the morning.  We should have a fairly quick turn around and we'll be back out again, this time for 4.  I'll be taking her out and I'm not sure where we'll go yet.  Fishing right now is at that stage where things need to and will change very soon.  We just hope we're in the right place when they do.
       

Polaris supreme Trip date 08-01-2019 We got a nice early start today on Tom Chaparro's annual Windham / Wells Memorial eight day chart.This is a special limited to 18 anglers trip dedicated to the discriminating angler who likes comfort without a crowd! Our bait supply looks good and the weather traveling down was good all afternoon. Although it might be a little bumpy going the other way up swell back towards home.We have a lot of familiar faces on board and are looking forward to a fun trip with the boys. Wish us luck!
